The news from Wasilla - definitely not Lake Wobegon.
Edited on Sat Nov-22-08 11:45 AM by Divernan
Wasilla, where a mentally ill young man fathers a child & is tasked with caring for the baby despite cautions to the child's mother that he's not fit to "be a father to that baby"; where an infant is hospitalized for six days, but the hospital staff neither finds nor reports even a suspicion of child abuse (it's called Shaken Baby Syndrome, you backwoods cretins!); where the baby is subsequently abused by the father and lies unattended in her crib for ANOTHER TWELVE HOURS before her mother "finds her"; where the father's relatives show up in court, sobbing, raising their hands to heaven and praying aloud for mercy for the killer; and where the paternal grandfather, a diagnosed schizophrenic, critically burned himself and knocked out power to more than 30,000 people in November 2002 when he climbed a 230,000-volt electrical tower at Point MacKenzie, telling dispatchers he was WAITING FOR A SIGN FROM PRESIDENT BUSH (emphasis added) according to prior reports, yet is testifying at the sentencing proceeding.

Wasilla didn't need an over-sized, under-utilized sports complex from Mayor Palin. It needed a planned parenthood clinic, a competent medical staff at its small hospital, and a residential facility for the mentally ill.

Naczi gets 30 years for daughter's death
WASILLA: Father killed his 5-month-old girl by shaking and beating her.

PALMER -- Kaydence Lewinski's death last year at the hands of her father tore apart two families.
That divisive grief surfaced again Friday morning in an emotional Palmer courtroom as a Superior Court judge sentenced 23-year-old Wasilla resident Burton Naczi for killing his 5-month-old daughter by shaking and beating her. Judge Vanessa White sentenced Naczi to 30 years in prison followed by 15 years of probation. His first chance for parole comes in 2027.
****************

"Lowering that little teeny casket into the ground ... It's just unbelievable a father would do that to his own daughter," (baby's grandfather) Lewinski said, as relatives including his daughter wept behind him. "I know Kaydence isn't getting out of that grave for parole. She's not getting out for good behavior." He said the baby was HOSPITALIZED FOR SIX DAYS THE MONTH BEFORE HER DEATH after being in Naczi's care, though DOCTORS FOUND NO SIGNS OF ABUSE AT THE TIME. Naczi later admitted shaking her, Lewinski said. Naczi, babysitting the child in November 2007, shook her and then put her in a bin and yanked her legs through holes meant for hands, prosecutors said. Then he LEFT HER UNATTENDED IN HER CRIB. The baby's mother discovered her injuries 12 HOURS LATER but doctors couldn't save her.
*************************

Naczi in court Friday read from an impassioned statement laden with references to the power of God as his family members sobbed, PRAYED ALOUD AND RAISED THEIR HANDS BEHIND HIM "I know my daughter is blessed in Heaven and it tears me apart every day this occurred," he said, his voice shaking.
*******************

Naczi's father, Michael Naczi, a diagnosed schizophrenic, critically burned himself and knocked out power to more than 30,000 people in November 2002 when he climbed a 230,000-volt electrical tower at Point MacKenzie, telling dispatchers he was WAITING FOR A SIGN FROM PRESIDENT BUSH (emphasis added) according to prior reports.

2. Tragedy hardly begins to describe ths situation....
Birth control, pregnancy termination, or at minimum, even the slightest amount of common sense on the part of anyone involved could have avoided this sickening situation.

4. Bad public officials love sports arenas and convention palaces
they can point with pride to in later years. For some reason, they don't consider real service to their fellow citizens to be a source of pride, only heaps of concrete and glass and surface glitz.

This story is horrible but it will continue to be repeated while basic human needs are starved and the egos of the rich fattened.

8. Human services = Socialism. Big sports arena = attracts business, creates jobs
republican think. hm. What if when people demand human services like medicare for all we try arguing it creates more jobs when all the poor folks can finally see doctors when needed instead of waiting until they are half dead to go to the emergecy room?

bah. I just can't understand the psyche of a person who values the quality of life for corporate entities more than for human entities.

5. There is something terribly wrong in the meth capital of Alaska
I can't find the article now but the area just had it's second armed robbery(within weeks) where the perps broke in to take a playstation (leaving behind other more valuable items)
(and they say video games don't make people violent)

6. Wasilla's ALWAYS had issues,
Edited on Sat Nov-22-08 01:37 PM by Blue_In_AK
even long before Sarah Palin's rise, I'm not sure why. It has such a different feel than Palmer, it's sister town in the Mat-Su.
