26. The guy's just doing his job. They aren't called slaughterhouses for nothing.
Granted, it's a creepy job, but it's not this guy's fault Americans eat Turkeys. I'd be more interested in an investigation into the procedures they employ at this farm than knowing one worker's name. I thought they were supposed to stun the birds before killing them, but I'm not sure if this is a law or not. It should be. People make fun of animal activists but this is the kind of practice they work to prevent.

it links to a page on "Broiler" chickens. Which is a very standard category.

It's just funny to me that someone in the business would make this sort of mistake.

41. Sure, it's a typo. But it is a very strange typo for someone who is
in the business of raising "broiler" chickens. Their web design person could have easily made the mistake, but the farmer, hopefully looking over the website every once in a while, should have spotted this one right away, being that they are in the business of raising and selling "Broilers".

This is like me putting on my web page that I write Eunuchs device drivers.

What does being a computer geek have to do with knowing the difference between "boiler" and "broiler"? That's THEIR profession, what they choose to do in life. I'd like to think they have some competence in the subject plus at least enough education to know how to spell simple words.

Anyway, just drop it already.

38. I don't know about their FAQ page,
I just know that their turkeys have a reputation for deliciousness, and, as I said, they're hormone and antibiotic free, so "boiler," "stewing chicken," whatever, I really don't care. Sarah was an idiot but it's not the farmer's fault.

42. Hint, "typo"
As I said, they're farmers, not web designers. If I had a dime for every typo or editing mistake I've seen on a web page, I'd be a wealthy woman. Give the farmer a break -- he's only doing his job. Sarah, on the other hand...

For the record, first turkey pardon in the history of Alaska governors. If Sarah was going for a photo op, it was HER responsibility to make sure the backdrop was appropriate, not the turkey slayer who was doing what he should be doing the week before Thanksgiving.

44. Yes, it's a typo.
It's just a very odd one. I'm pretty sure that the chicken farmer knows what a "broiler" chicken is... and I hope they look at their own website occasionally. It sticks out like a sore thumb. Especially to someone that knows the business. Makes them look careless or ignorant or both.

As for Sarah, it doesn't surprise me in the least that this was the "first" turkey pardon in the state. She is now a camera whore and will take any opportunity to appear on our TeeVees. In a few weeks she will be obviously desperate to be interviewed by someone, anyone.

That she is so lacking in "stagecraft" to allow that as the backdrop sums up her whole persona, doesn't it?

45. She's a real "piece of work," as they say...
We're doing our best up here to draw attention to her weaknesses so that her national ambitions are thwarted. I understand from various sources that there are even more scandals bubbling just beneath the surface, and the Alaskans for Truth, who organized the anti-Palin demonstrations here in the fall, are planning some new actions. She has to be stopped.

Thanksgiving is coming soon, in case you missed it, and these guys sell GREAT turkeys, no hormones, no antibiotics. They apparently didn't even know that Sarah was stopping by until the night before, and I'm sure they didn't think she'd be hanging around after the "pardon." I say leave turkey guy alone.

http://www.alaskatripled.com/

From the Daily News...

Anthony Schmidt, owner of Triple D Farm & Hatchery, where this all took place, said Friday that animal rights activists from around the nation had been calling all day to "say how horrible it was they were killing that turkey and people could see it."

"And I guess, to some degree I understand that. If I had my choice it wouldn't have been aired, that part of it. But, on the other hand, that's just life," he said. "Americans are going to consume 46 million turkeys at Thanksgiving. I'm only doing six or seven hundred. Give somebody else a hard time."

Schmidt said he was busy during the governor's visit and didn't realize turkeys were being killed right behind the governor, or he would have stopped it. He said the publicity is increasing turkey orders but he doesn't like the fallout.

"They're sliming the governor and I think it's wrong, totally, wrong," Schmidt said. "I mean, come on guys, get a life."
