1. Maybe he doesnt want to be in government again?
I agree though, that man is smart and would be an asset if he did want to serve again.

5. He 'wants' to do what
'they' need to be done.

I'm concerned about 'them' at the moment, for this reason.

17. I don't think there's any reason for you to be concerned about the Obama Administration
I believe that hearts and minds are in the right place with the in-coming Administration.

6. Wesley Clark could be National Security Advisor or Secretary of Defense
Either way, I agree he needs to be given a role in the Obama Administration.

My ticket in 2004 was Wesley Clark/ John Edwards *sigh*, in my heart I know that a Clark/Edwards ticket would have won.

8. I somehow believe that he may be tapped as SOD in 2010.....
when he is elligible, and when Gates would no longer be as useful as he will be on the onset.

I believe that Barack has a good relationship with Wes.

14. I don't think they have a bad relationship........
I think that Wes Clark, if he wants, has a place in this administration.

There are many, many positions left to fill.

16. I totally agree. Although, I'd like it to happen sooner than 2010.
Now wouldn't be too soon would it?

23. Legally, Wes Clark is not eligible till 2010.
Which would make it a good reason to wait.

24. Ah yes, you are right. Maybe that's why Obama is inclined to keep Gates on for 2009
and wait until Wes Clark is eligible in 2010.

Edited on Fri Nov-21-08 10:56 PM by Zen Democrat
He works harder than anyone to elect Democrats. I think Wes Clark is qualified for just about any job in Washington. Has he been out of the military long enough to be eligible for Secretary of Defense? Hmmmm, maybe that's why Gates is rumored to be held over for a while. Or maybe this is just wishful thinking!

Mcpeak was behind Barack from day one. Wes was not.

26. That's an interesting idea
He has a close relationship with Hillary. Who appoints the Deputy? The president or the Secretary?

What Hillary will need for that position is someone perhaps a bit better versed in geopolitical issues. I personally think Clark fits the bill...

27. Clark is dead to Obama, IMO.
Edited on Sat Nov-22-08 08:44 AM by robcon
Clark, in his Clinton-supporting days (when he was probably a frontrunner to be Clinton's VP if she won the nomination) said "Former NATO commander Wesley Clark, a Clinton supporter, called the comments "disturbing," and he accused Obama of not being prepared enough to be commander in chief and properly oversee an end to the Iraq war."

No job for Wes, IMO.
