RW'ers posting about not participating in the economy,
using barter, making old things last, spending or using as little as possible.
Sounds like '70's hippies/communals.
Of course they would really hate this, if they ever thought of it, but it reminds me of the old commune/frugality thing, except with a lot of anger and maybe more guns.
Of course, some of those old hippies were pretty nasty in reality.

Any thoughts on this?

mark ( I still pretty much live that way, too.)

1. There aren't enough of them to make much difference.
(Just like there weren't enough of us). The change in lifestyle would be too wrenching for most Americans.

2. They are not participating because they are broke and unemployed.
Just like the rest of us.

They thought that when the 2nd Republicon Great Depression hit, they wouldn't be victims because they are Republicons after all.

But these idiots will be standing in the bread lines just like you and me.

4. I live that way as a matter of necessity.

I'm poor, and any other way just doesn't work.

BTW, I am a dirty stinking hippie who tried to exist in the mainstream world and got destroyed.

5. We are not really poor, but we live that way out of habit -
It used to be a necessity, and we got so good at it, we got to like it, and it became almost a game. As a result, we have no credit card debt, no car payments, etc.
We didn't have too far to fall in the recession.

6. Imagine how rough it will be for those who have lived on paper.
Edited on Mon Nov-17-08 08:01 AM by Frustratedlady
Those who have had all their services done by others and who ate out all the time. It will be tough.

Rather than Survival of the Richest, it will be Survival of the Fittest...those of us who have been frugal most of our lives out of necessity.

Every dog has its day. I just hope I have my microwave so I can pop that monstrous pile of Orville Redenbacher's popcorn I saved up.

7. Remember when they were going to boycott Chinese made products
After one of our planes was forced to land in China after invading Chinese air space.

They were going to boycott all Chinese made products and Walmart. How long did that last?

Walmart is still standing along with all their Chinese crap.
