Nanobamas
Edited on Mon Nov-17-08 01:23 AM by JohnnyRingo
Pictures taken with an electron microscope. Each face is grown upward from a bed of nanotubes placed in the shape of the figure. If a nanotube was the size of a tree, it would grow at about 500 mph.

The individual faces below are about the diameter of 10 human hairs.

2. That nano stuff scares me.
Especially the idea of little nano robots and such.

How long before this stuff is used as biological weaponry?

4. We need to actually be able to build nanorobots first.
Long before that, we'll be mass-producing nanomaterials. Imagine light office shirts that double as a bulletproof vest, and cars more durable than an Abrams battle tank.

By the time we're able to build nanorobots, we'll also know how to control the things. Honestly, I'm tremendously excited about nanotech, because the applications are limitless.

8. Wow!! WAY cool!

Each face is made of approximately 150 million tiny carbon nanotubes; that's about how many Americans voted in the 2008 presidential election.
