For the Pasty-Faced, Potentially Dying War Criminal Dick Cheney: "Dogs" by Pink Floyd
Edited on Wed Nov-12-08 06:41 AM by tom_paine
This is as compliment to another thread posted in which another DUers observes that Cheney appears to be looking decidedly like Russert looked just before the end (my words, not the poster's), and that he may not long be with us.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x4442261

As I think back, as much as I disliked what Russert did, he apparently had many redeeming qualities in his personal life such as being a good father and family man.

Dick Cheney has no such mitigating circumstances. He is a bitter old war criminal who has created death and pain for millions of people, and almost all of it for no good reasons other than his own increased power and lined pockets.

He is Pinochetian. He is Himmlerian. And I staunchly believe...STAUNCHLY...that had Dick Cheney been born in 1900 in Germany, he would have performed Eichmann's or Himmler's tasks with the equallly efficient enthusiasm that Eichmann or Himmler himself did.

And with the same amount of pain from his conscience...which is to say NONE!

Having said all that, I have NO mitigating sympathies for Ruthless Dick that I had for Russert. In reality, the people of the world, not God, should get to carry out sentence after an appropriate Nuremburg (or Watergate, depending on the venue)-style investigation and trial, if the evidence warrants it, which it WILL.

Simply put, on the day Ruthless Dick shuffles off the mortal coil (hopefully of natural causes, as a violent end would not only harm the nation, but soften Cheney's image after he dies - out of sympathy - and he should be remembered as the Cartoonish Villain that he IS) the population of Hell will gain a new member.

I only hope Satan has a sense of history, and puts Cheney in the same dorm room as Himmler, his spritual antecedent. And that Countdown, the Daily Show and Colbert are playing on all the walls for all eternity.

OK, I have said m'piece. Without futher or do...THIS ONE IS FOR YOU DICK CHENEY, MAY YOU ROT IN HELL'S 12TH CIRCLE WITH HEINRICH HIMMLER AND ADOLF EICHMANN YOUR ROOMMATES FOR ETERNITY, FOR ALL THE UNNECCESSARY PAIN AND DEATH AND SUFFERING YOU HAVE CAUSED!

"Dogs" by Pink Floyd (from the CD "Animals")

You gotta be crazy, you gotta have a real need.
You gotta sleep on your toes, and when you're on the street,
You gotta be able to pick out the easy meat with your eyes closed.
And then moving in silently, down wind and out of sight,
You gotta strike when the moment is right without thinking.

And after a while, you can work on points for style.
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake,
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile.
You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to,
So that when they turn their backs on you,
You'll get the chance to put the knife in.

You gotta keep one eye looking over your shoulder.
You know it's going to get harder, and harder, and harder as you
get older.
And in the end you'll pack up and fly down south,
Hide your head in the sand,
Just another sad old man,
All alone and dying of cancer.

And when you loose control, you'll reap the harvest you have sown.
And as the fear grows, the bad blood slows and turns to stone.
And it's too late to lose the weight you used to need to throw
around.
So have a good drown, as you go down, all alone,
Dragged down by the stone.

I gotta admit that I'm a little bit confused.
Sometimes it seems to me as if I'm just being used.
Gotta stay awake, gotta try and shake off this creeping malaise.
If I don't stand my own ground, how can I find my way out of this
maze?

Deaf, dumb, and blind, you just keep on pretending
That everyone's expendable and no-one has a real friend.
And it seems to you the thing to do would be to isolate the winner
And everything's done under the sun,
And you believe at heart, everyone's a killer.

Who was born in a house full of pain.
Who was trained not to spit in the fan.
Who was told what to do by the man.
Who was broken by trained personnel.
Who was fitted with collar and chain.
Who was given a pat on the back.
Who was breaking away from the pack.
Who was only a stranger at home.
Who was ground down in the end.
Who was found dead on the phone.
Who was dragged down by the stone.

1. I think "Pigs" is probably more Cheney's song.

3. Must respectfully diagree. "Pigs" is about Freepers, Ditthoeads, etc.
"Pigs" is about the Followers; "Dogs" is about the Leaders, IMHO.

"Pigs (Three Different Ones)"

Big man, pig man, ha ha, charade you are
You well heeled big wheel, ha ha, charade you are
And when your hand is on your heart
You're nearly a good laugh
Almost a joker
With your head down in the pig bin
Saying "keep on digging"
Pig stain on your fat chin
What do you hope to find?
When you're down in the pig mine
You're nearly a laugh
You're nearly a laugh
But you're really a cry.
Bus stop rat bag, ha ha, charade you are
You fucked up old hag, ha ha, charade you are
You radiate cold shafts of broken glass
You're nearly a good laugh
Almost worth a quick grin
You like the feel of steel
You're hot stuff with a hat pin
And good fun with a hand gun
You're nearly a laugh
You're nearly a laugh
But you're really a cry.
Hey you Whitehouse, ha ha, charade you are
You house proud town mouse, ha ha, charade you are
You're trying to keep our feelings off the street
You're nearly a real treat
All tight lips and cold feet
And do you feel abused?
.....!.....!.....!.....!
You gotta stem the evil tide
And keep it all on the inside
Mary you're nearly a treat
Mary you're nearly a treat
But you're really a cry.

5. And "Pigs on the Wing" is our timeless tale, the timeless tale of the Liberal
trying to live our lives and make our corner of the the world a little better but all around there are the Cheney-Himmler-Dogs and THEIR dogs the Freepers and Stormtroopers, i.e The Pigs on the Wing.

Pigs on the Wing (Part One)

If you didn't care what happened to me,
And I didn't care for you,
We would zig zag our way through the boredom and pain
Occasionally glancing up through the rain.
Wondering which of the buggars to blame
And watching for pigs on the wing.

Pigs on the Wing (Part Two)
You know that I care what happens to you,
And I know that you care for me.
So I don't feel alone,
Or the weight of the stone,
Now that I've found somewhere safe
To bury my bone.
And any fool knows a dog needs a home,
A shelter from pigs on the wing.

2. Very good. I agree. It's hard to believe that we such allow such
sleezy, amoral, thuggish brutes run 'the land of the free and the home of the brave', set up policy, and determine who we go to war with. His depravity is alarming. And obvious.

I have never swallowed the story that Poopy picked Unca Dick to find his little boy a V.P. I mean, Poopy knew better than anyone what a putz his worthless son is. So he put Cheney in a position to run the show. And I base this on the fact that Poopy never said or did anything to make anyone believe that he regretted his positioning of Cheney so close to his son. Nor did he ever demand or call for his resignation. He only got on Rumsfeld's case for incompetence. (If the war would have gone right, he would have been singing Rummy's praises for a thousand years as Richard Perle would say.)

Plus look at how Carlyle Group has prospered.

6. Busted. Just repeating chatter I heard on DU at the time of his death.
So I don't really know for myself because I stopped watching Loyal Bushies like Russert long ago on TV.

As I said...BUSTED! Mea culpa. My bad.

7. You are right that does fit Cheney.
I am often reminded how prophetic songs written 30 to 40 years ago are today.
Pink Floyd is one of my favorites, And I often drag out "Dark side of the Moon" and "The Wall" but now I guess I will revisit "Animals" too.

10. It never occurred to me but it does fit
Animals is one of my favorite albums and to go a bit off topic, if you like Pink Floyd look for the cover band Wish You Were Here to come around. They come to Columbus two or three times a year and I always try and catch them. They get both the vocals and music perfect, as close as you can come to seeing Floyd live.
