HELLO DUers!! I WASN'T HERE ON ELECTION NIGHT
i was actually volunteering for the Obama campaign until 9:30 p.m. here in Florida. I knocked on people's doors until 10 minutes before the polls closed. After that we were told to go to one preceint where the lines were long and we were giving out bottles of water with a note from Barack Obama saying to the voters not to leave the lines that he needed everyones votes. While doing this all i could think of was you! How you were handling and reacting to the news, especially when Ohio was called for Obama.

Can you share with me your emotions of that night? Does anybody saved a link? I would love to read them!!

Thanks to all!.

AFter all the hardwork, WE DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

night. At least at our office party, it was as if everyone had gone insane!

In fact, where we held the party, on the other side there was a party being held for McCain donors, and they reported us, we were screaming so loud, singing so loud, and we were barely drinking. We were CRAZY! However, when he spoke, you would've thought everyone had left. Silence...

BEAUTIFUL NIGHT, but people I know are still in shock and smiling!

AND THANKS FOR BEING A VOLUNTEER!!!

4. Election?
We had the election already? How come nobody told me? Why wasn't it on the television machine, or the internet tubes? You would think something that important would have people talking about it. Oh well, what's done is done, maybe next time. If I remember right, that night I went to a meeting, had dinner with some friends afterward, then got home in time to hear one of my Senators is leaving for some dead end government job. It's a shame, he seems like such a smart young man, tall skinny guy with big ears, kinda funny name , I can't recall what it is. Anyway, I wish him and his wife and daughters the best of luck, since he's liable to be out of work in eight years. Just wish I could remember his name, oh well. it's probably not important.

9. Me and my two spouses spent the evening in front of the giant screen
getting massively and happily drunk. About an hour before it was called for Obama, Olbermann asked the people he was hosting with to check his math because by his calculation, Obama had already won when you took into account California, Oregon and Washington. They agreed but then brushed it off (I think it didn't behoove any media outlet to call the race early). I realized he was right so we decided to watch the rest of the Comedy Central Indecision 2008 - basically I let Jon Stewart be the one to call it. It was great because they ended the program right after Stewart and Colbert called it so we had plenty of time to get to another channel to watch the acceptance speech. The three of us sat side by side, with tears streaming down our faces and listened to every word. It was a grand night.

The hangover in the morning, not so much.

10. Did Colbert brush a tear out of his eye when it was called?
The person - not the character? I watched the coverage yesterday on the website, and that's what it looked like.

I, too, got pretty drunk (stopped by at my local Democratic HQ first, said my hellos, harassed the local candidates, and was home in 1/2 hour).

Slept like a BABY that night - maybe because I knew the world was finally in good hands
