Reid on Lieberman: ‘I didn’t like what he did…but he is one of the most progressive people’ from CT.»

On CNN’s Late Edition, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) said he recognizes what Joe Lieberman said and did during the campaign was “wrong” and “improper,” telling host John King, “if we weren’t on television, I’d use a stronger word of describing what he did.” But he added, “Joe Lieberman is not some right-wing nutcase, Joe Lieberman is one of the most progressive people ever to come from the state of Connecticut.”

Watch it/read transcript at link:

Reid had a blunt prediction for Sen. Ted Stevens’ future. “All the Republicans, John Ensign, head of the Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee, Republican Leader McConnell and a long list of people said that he’s going to be kicked out of the Senate,” Reid said. “Of course he is. He is not going to survive.”

1. If he doesn't kick him out of the caucus, he needs to step aside as Majority Leader

13. I sent him a note this morning...
...telling him that he really needs to strip Lieberman of his chairmanship. That as our lawmakers are so fond of reminding us, actions have consequences. That Lieberman needs to have some consequences. That Lieberman has been an ardent supporter of the illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq, despite his campaign pledge to be a "peace" candidate. That Reid really, really does not want to give Lieberman the means with which to sabotage Obama's efforts to get us out of that mess.

I really hope he listens to us.

7. Is this the nice speak before the shaft?
Because I sure don't think the Democrats, once they get Holy Joe's knife out of their backs, should hand it back to him. Committee assignments and chairmanship, gone. At minimum. Maybe loss of seniority in the caucus. If Joe wants to be a Democrat, let him work his way up from the bottom.

9. He might be..
The most progressive Senator/Congressperson from Connecticut but he is out for himself, disloyal, untrustworthy and a declared independent. If he really wants to caucus with the Democrats demand that he give up all his committee chairmanships and that he basically keeps his mouth shut unless he is supporting the positions of the caucus.

11. He has a good point - states elect their representatives not DU
and Joe may be the post progressive person likely to win in CT.

14. He only won last time because of the Republican crossover vote...
...otherwise, Lamont would have won. So no, he is not the most progressive person likely to win in CT.

And anyway who cares. He's not even a Democrat.

15. He won the first time because of the Republican crossover vote
He won because state and national Republicans targetted Weicker for defeat.

16. In other words.. Reid isn't going to do a thing....
Also, Reid said today that he wasn't "Optimistic" about a stimulas package.

I'm seriously beginning to think Harry Reid is a Neocon in DEM clothing. He must go... along with "Liberman the Traitor".
