7. Mittens has quite a list on his own
Bain Capital was founded in 1984 by Bain & Company partners Willard Mitt Romney, T. Coleman Andrews III, and Eric Kriss. In addition to the three founding partners, the early team included Fraser Bullock, Robert F. White, Joshua Bekenstein, Adam Kirsch, Stephen Pagliuca and Geoffrey S. Rehnert. Bain Capital's original $37 million fund was raised entirely from private individuals in mid-1984, led by Ricardo Poma, a Salvadoran businessman.

The firm's investment professionals evaluate potential deals based on a consulting-based due diligence process that analyzes a company's financial performance, market growth potential, industry attractiveness, and competitive position. One of the fund's first start-up investments was Staples, Inc., the $15 billion office supply retailer. The funding enabled Staples to expand from one store in 1986 to nearly 1,700 in 2006.

Twenty years after its inception, Bain Capital manages approximately $80 billion in assets, and has founded, acquired, or invested in hundreds of companies including AMC Entertainment, Brookstone, Burger King, Burlington Coat Factory, Domino's Pizza, DoubleClick, Guitar Center, HCA, Sealy, The Sports Authority, Toys R Us, Unisource, Warner Music Group and The Weather Channel.

Damn... that's a lot of boycotting.

3. Are these companies just LDS-owned or did they specifically support prop 8?
I'd hate to discriminate purely on the basis of religion.

And, um, is "H.J. Heinz" the catsup company owned in part by Theresa Heinz Kerry?

I'm sorry is it okay for Heinz to hire bigots as their President because it's owned by the wife of a former candidate?

You want to stop the Mormon Church from funding hatred against gays. You might want to deal with the companies that give them all that money they used to overturn peoples marriages.

8. I think that boycotts are great to make an individual feel good,
but I think they are usually ineffective unless they are very local. How do you hurt or punish the evil and nasty companies without hurting and punishing the thousands of innocent employees, the little people, who are just trying to get by and live their lives and don't have the freedom or luxury to share everbody's moral indignation?

17. My point is that boycotts usually do no more than make the boycotter feel good
about what they are not doing. Compile an exhaustive list of every company that should be boycotted for one reason or another and there probably would not be many left.

28. So the Montgomery Bus Boycott was just a feel good for blacks?

Boycotts work. You just don't know they work because corporations don't admit they work.

McDonalds boycott in the 80 eliminated styro-shells to wrap burgers, but of course McD's said the boycott had no effect on their decision, even though they'd delayed doing the right thing for Decades and caved in 4 months into the boycott.

Do you recall that Nestlie's was selling infected baby formula to the third world in the 70's ? Do you recall the Boycott?

No, because Nestlie's stopped the practice and refuses to admit they ever did it.

Did you ever learn the term DOLLAR VOTE in school?

30. Before you jump on my ass, why don't you read my post #8:
I think that boycotts are great to make an individual feel good,

but I think they are usually ineffective unless they are very local.

I also said "usually". What part of that is difficult for you to understand? I believe that for a boycott to be effective if must be specific and focussed and usually local and the examples you cited were specific and focussed and the Montgomery bus boycott was very local. Is my meaning clear to you now?

26. Thom Hartman has a theory on the Mormons
opposition to Prop. 8. He said Mitt Romney is leading the Mormon charge on Prop. 8 in order to make the Mormons acceptable to the Christian Right. He also said that the people in the McCain campaign that are dissing Palin are the former Romney supporters. He thinks Romney is trying to eliminate Sarah palin as a contender and suck up to the Christian Right for his POTUS run in 2012. Makes sense to me.
