1. I read the entire thing. It took a long time but it is interesting. My favorite tidbits (that I

can remember):

* His singing Disco Inferno when the light breaks during debate prep so it looks like a strobe light.

* His campaign's warning to the Red Cross to be prepared (their website) because they were going to direct their supporters to give to them to help re the Hurricane. The Red Cross blows them off - acting like "big deal", we've already dealt with Katrina, Rita, flooding, etc. - 15 minutes after it goes up on the Obama website, Red Cross website crashes from the overwhelming response. Love It!!!

* I didn't like this part but it did validate our worries re Palin and McCain inciting their crazy crowds. Secret Service notified the campaign of a sharp increase in "disturbing" threats against Obama in late September, early October. Durbin calls Lindsay to ask them to stop it and the dumbshit Graham completely blows it off. What a dick.

* Salter comes off looking like the most decent guy in the McCain campaign.

edit to add

* Obama laughing during the debate prep when he was supposed to be outraged or indignant. The political theatre kind of cracks him up.

6. Thanks. I'll have to check it out. I also liked the first part - the "Kool Aid" boys

re Greg Craig and the other guy - both with Kennedy connections.

Also - that Ethel Kennedy telling Obama at Coretta Scott King's funeral that "we're passing the torch to you".

2. Ha! So he IS human after all ...
The debates unnerved both candidates. When he was preparing for them during the Democratic primaries, Obama was recorded saying, "I don't consider this to be a good format for me, which makes me more cautious. I often find myself trapped by the questions and thinking to myself, 'You know, this is a stupid question, but let me … answer it.' So when Brian Williams is asking me about what's a personal thing that you've done , and I say, you know, 'Well, I planted a bunch of trees.' And he says, 'I'm talking about personal.' What I'm thinking in my head is, 'Well, the truth is, Brian, we can't solve global warming because I f---ing changed light bulbs in my house. It's because of something collective'."

3. I read that specific excerpt before. It is SO perfect!!!!
It tells the entire story of why our country is fucked up.

The media making us more stupid with every moronic utterance from their moronic pieholes.

5. The part of Sarah Palin to be played by Audrey Hepburn.
At the GOP convention in St. Paul, Palin was completely unfazed by the boys' club fraternity she had just joined. One night, Steve Schmidt and Mark Salter went to her hotel room to brief her. After a minute, Palin sailed into the room wearing nothing but a towel, with another on her wet hair. She told them to chat with her laconic husband, Todd. "I'll be just a minute," she said.

:eyes:

"Oh, did I drop that?"

7. Could we get the real link?
The link that you provided most definitely does NOT deal with a 7 page story.

8. You have to click on the "Chapter 1, Chapter 2" headings
Under "Secrets of the 2008 Campaign"

I'm still reading this -- I think I might go out and buy the whole thing to keep it. Amazing.

16. Didn't see it myself tonight.
However, I assumed it was because my grocery store didn't have it. (Didn't get the chance to go to Borders.) I'll be on the look-out for it though. Thanks for the heads up!

13. Good Luck.
In this little corner of the world, they're already gone (which is why I'm glad I subscribe). YMMV, of course, but don't forget that the NYTimes for wednesday is going for 30-50 bucks on eBay.

Fascinating is definitely the word.
Sarah reeaaaally started believing her own press toward the end, didn't she?
And McCain's tendency to identify with fictional characters is....kind of odd.

Oh, and the scene with Barack, Michelle, the belt buckle and the Star Trek reference---
GEEEEEEEK!!
