Dear Duers: Not a single dem Senator will challenge Harry Reid at this time.
Not a single dem Representative will challenge Nancy Pelosi either.

And that's simply the way it is. Reality may be a bitch, but ignoring it is just absurd.

1. Let things settle out. It's never a "perfect" world (perfect = what I want).
These two have been through a difficult two years and actually accomplished some good things. Give them credit.

There will be a new Congress in 2009 with new expectations. They'll have a bigger majority and a president who'll support many things his predecessor didn't.

Chill out!

2. lol. try reading
I'm not the one upset about this. I don't have a problem with reality. I'm telling people it's utterly fruitless to obsess about this.

I wish people would actually read before posting in purported response.

3. i think reid and pelosi did whatever they had to help a democratic win
part of it was to stay away from controversial and partisan issues (such as impeachment)

yes, the dems shouldnt go against them and i suspect president obama wouldnt like if they did

I don't look for any wholesale changes in Congressional leadership either. In light of a hostile administration and an even more hostile minority, I do think Reid and Pelosi have gotten some good stuff done, but have intentionally kept a lid on things with the '08 elections in mind. I think we'll see the current leadership a little more aggressive in the new Congress but not overly so, as everyone looks to 2010. What I look for in 2010, the Obama administration will have its feet firmly planted and Dems, if they handle themselves well, will increase their numbers in the House and hopefully surpass the 60 seat filibuster-proof majority in the Senate. Then I think we'll see some wholesale changes in Congressional leadership, including many key committee chair and memberships. If that happens change just won't be coming, it'll be happening.
