The Republicans are setting up their counter-punch.
Edited on Fri Nov-07-08 07:43 AM by Tigermoose
The Republicans are playing this "let's work together" in the center-right talking point right now, because as soon as the Democrats try and do something, they are going to cry wolf and raise all sorts of hell. Then they are going to get out their "we're martyrs" routine and say, "We tried to work with you, but you were just too partisan."

We need to raise awareness of this strategy so as to make sure at least liberals don't fall for it. Unfortunately, we can be fairly sure that the media and Joe six-pack will swallow it hook-line-and-sinker. Hopefully Obama and the Democratic leadership can see through this and keep a step ahead of this sort of gamesmanship.

3. Obama will deal with all this bullshit better than Clinton did and the media is not...
going to play ball with the GOP as willingly as they did in Clinton's time.

4. The Republican model is fugging dead
President Elect Obama has a mandate and they will slowly face reality. In the same way the electorate ignored their spin prior to the election, they will continue to ignore these braying losers. Let them fugging cry. It is OVER!!! Time for a New Deal!!

5. they always do this when they lose their advantage
but, just like all their tactics, it's simply a ruse. Anyone who takes it, takes a sucker's bet, IMO.

6. The Only Strategy They Have Right Now Is The Circular Firing Squad
The "center-right" bullshit is eminating from the "village"...the corporate media who has benefitted from a consumer society that buys their pablum...free of regulation. This election showed that the political pendulum has swung away from the right...and if anything this is now a "center-left" country...those on the right are soon to find out how out in the wilderness they really are. That still hasn't sunk in yet.

This election wasn't just a repudiation of a lame candidate, it was against an entire party and culture of hate and fear they propagate. The slime attacks didn't work. Faux Noise couldn't pull dirty tricks. Hate radio became more rabid with little effect. The dynamic has changed and so has their ability to control the narrative.

Right now, the GOOP is a blob of factions that all blame the other for the loss. It's the party wasn't "conservative" enough...and with that definition comes meaning fiscal or social. We're seeing a schizophrenic response...some lashing out, others being concilatory...since none of them really know where their destroyed party's center is.

Let them continue to be obstinate and let them fight among themselves...they've earned it.

Cheers...

7. And when WE were in the minority, they threated the "nuclear option" everytime a Dem
wanted to filibuster. THEN when they're in the minority they filibustered everything we tried to do. So we have that to deal with as well.

8. It's the "see what happens when we try to get along" bullshit.

That's the best they can come up with at this point.

Lame as hell. But they don't have anything else left in their arsenal.
