DU QUOIN — A couple’s feud over opinions on Tuesday night's election results ended with a wood-chopping domestic altercation, according to Perry County Sheriff’s Department officials.

Michael S. Romani, 41, of Sesser allegedly chopped up the wood on the deck of Stacy Jo Emling, 36, of Du Quoin during the fight.

Deputies said in a release that Du Quoin Police Department responded to the residence on Illinois Route 51 and found Romani had chopped up the back of the deck because of an argument that ensued over the election.

Romani was incarcerated on charges of criminal damage to property and posted a $1,000 cash bond. Perry County Sheriff’s Department deputies declined further comment on the incident.

Makes me proud to be from this part of the country. Oh well, at least they cared one way and the other. :9

1. I'll say at least he hit the deck instead of a person
Especially with an axe!

That's pretty civilized behavior for a freeper-type.

4. Actually they didn't say what side the chopper was on.
But knowing the areas, my hunch would be that the chopper was the mccain supporter.

7. No Obama supporter could be that angry just days after the election.
If the Obama supporter did it, then he did it over things largely not related to the election. And the article makes it sound like that was not the case, so...

8. I know.
I just got to thinking that I had made the assumption that the mccain person was the chopper, and then over rationalized it.. ;)

Well I could still be wrong also. There are plenty of Obama supporters (or near enough) on these boards getting angry already! ;-)

weren't tanks in the streets. I'm always thankful for that.

3. I would have done the same.
Of course, it would be because I would need the firewood to get through the winter because I probably wouldn't be able to afford heating oil.

Like I said this place sure makes me proud. Of course there are republican assholes all over the country. I would just like to find a place where there are less of them.

14. Further proof most rethugs need intense psychiatric help.
rethugs have no problem electing convicted felons to Congress; insanity is in the majority.

18. Michel Gondry could make a short film based on his thought process
immediately prior to chopping the deck.

I think it'd be pretty trippy.

19. I can see that happening.
I wonder if the intake of drugs (alcohol) would be involved.
