Family members are split on whether or not a great grandparent was really northwestern european or not. As a child my dad loved having one blondy kid and I finally accepted he was my dad when I was in my late 20's after I was assured that I looked just like sibs who looked like his side of the family, except for my coloring.

He wrote me yesterday and said he had to check the news first thing Wed am to make sure he wasn't dreaming. As did I.

I am glad he lived to see President-elect Obama also.

1. Awesome!
I'm sure there are many people like your father who feel very lucky to have lived long enough to see this great new day in America.

2. My grandmother told me today that Obama is "a good man".

She is in her 70's and was raised in WV. She is a "fundamentalist" Christian(perhaps she is moving away from the fundie aspect now?).

She is very happy that Obama was elected and told me that she thinks he will be an excellent President. She gushed about how beautiful the Obama family is and expressed excitement about what is to come.

I have to admit i was a bit surprised when the subject came up. She asked me if i was happy about the win. We never talk politics. I told her i was very happy and that is when she shared her views. Needless to say i was THRILLED.

It is the older people that are really tearing me up in the last few days. What a journey their lives have been. I too am glad your father lived to see Obama elected.

:hi:
