4. Looks like we'll escape again
If it slows down, our North Coast may be in trouble because it's going to turn North East. Of course it could come back down like Gustav. Our met office has been warning us that it would strengthen since Tuesday but we were on Obama watch. We're paying attention now and still have supplies if we need them.
I think we'll be lucky but I fear that Cayman, Cuba, parts of the Bahamas and Turks and Caicos may not be so lucky.

I remember how much I enjoyed your survival guide during Hurricane Ike. I thought I bookmarked it but I probably printed it out for the recipes.

2. It actually looks like 3 'canes in a row. Never seen that config before.
Can't even tell which one is 'the one'. I'm feeling for Cuba now. It's getting late in the season for this. Although, historically, not really.

If I were in Florida I'd keep an eye on this storm.

14. Hurricane Paloma is now a Cat 3
Cayman is taking a beating as I type.

Jeff Masters raised this earlier:
A new record for the hurricane season of 2008?
This year and 2005 are the only seasons that we've had major hurricanes in the Atlantic in four separate months--July, August, September, and October. If Paloma becomes a major hurricane, it will make 2008 the first year since record keeping began in 1851 to feature major hurricanes in five separate months.

Well 2008 makes history - first time since record keeping in 1851 that we've had five major hurricanes in five separate months - July, August, September, October and November.

Give thanks that the Obama team will pay attention to climate change.

8. Florida is just outside the projection cones!
In November! Meanwhile, there's a blizzard in the Northern Plains...

11. If the experts and right Florida is safe
It's supposed to move way North East. The center is still below Cayman so we are watching carefully.
