I just think its absurd that the media is suggesting a Conservative mandate
All yesterday on the radio, all morning today on the TV I keep hearing the same bullshit; the American people have spoken and they demand a conservative approach to government by Obama, that his only road to success lies in the middle. Where on earth did they get that notion? From their description the middle seems to be somewhere between the agenda of the remaining extreme right and what we have endured for the last 2 years.

Horseshit! This is no radical agenda, this is the agenda of a free people:

We want Government back in the business of regulating the products and services we all require in our complex society.
We want religion out of the business of Government.
We want reliable well maintained infrastructure and we want it to grow to meet ever-changing demands.
We want those who have broken the law prosecuted no matter who they are.
We want the Constitution restored to its full stature no matter how radical a change that might be.
We want Bush's illegal war ended.
We want those who attacked us capture and dealt with in accord with the rule of law.
We want Government (spy Agencies) out of our lives.

We want, no demand is the right word, a million things that are no more radical than these and we are in no mood for obstructionist Republicans in Congress or anywhere else to slow or prevent us from having them.

3. If the people wanted a conservative approach, they would have voted for a conservative.

5. You make a good case.
I think the Conservatives are terrified of losing their power (and some of them fearing prison, as they should be) but no reasonable person could vote against the agenda you've laid out.

6. They're comforting their audience - expected
Obama said as much in his acceptance speech - that he would represent the people who didn't vote for him as well. Warm & fuzzies.

Action on specific items will rule the day.

7. are they still spouting that bullshit?
Yes, clearly the public voted for the same shit we've had the last eight years.

You know what? Let them say whatever they want, indeed they will. Obama is the president, we control the congress. That's all that matters. They can spin all they want. My President just beat the shit out of the Republican party and has a 60+ likable rating.

Spin that, beyotches.

8. Paul Krugman predicted that would happen.
From a blog post back in October:

The morning after

Four years ago George W. Bush narrowly won the presidential election, and Republicans achieved a 30-seat majority in the House and a 10-seat majority in the Senate. Immediately there was a vast chorus from the commentariat, proclaiming the death of liberalism; America, everyone said, was a conservative nation. I have a whole shelf of books with titles like Building Red America and One-Party Nation.

Maybe the current polls are all wrong. But at the moment they point to an Obama victory by a margin much larger than Bush’s in 2004, plus a Democratic majority of 50 or more in the House and something like 14 in the Senate.

So you know what the morning-after commentary will say — in fact, it’s already started. Yes: it will say that America is, um, a conservative nation.

11. LOL. These pinheads just cannot stand it
that people finally opened their ears and eyes, woke up, recognized their spin and propaganda and bullshit and no longer paid much attention to it. They cannot stand it that they don't have the control that they've had the past decade and that it's likely gone for a very long time. They cannot stand the fact that people recognized that they have a mind of their own and voted accordingly, despite all attempts by the MSM otherwise. And now they're gonna make things as difficult as possible for Obama by outright lying and claiming some stupid mandate that doesn't exist at all. LOL. This would almost be funny if they still didn't have a lot of power to make things so difficult.

12. Right wing, two weeks ago:
"He's a socialist! He's a far-left liberal! He's the most liberal candidate ever, and he has horribly liberal plans! If he wins it'll be a huge victory for liberal socialist liberalism!"

Right wing, now: "He ran a center-right campaign. His victory is a huge victory for conservatism. He now has a strong mandate to govern from the right."
