"As we face the current trying economic times, I recommend a vote for divided government.
Without checks and balances in the branches of government, both at the federal and state level, we can expect the worst. I recommend voting for McCain for president to check the Pelosi/Reed led Congress and Rossi for governor to check the incredible 24-year Democratic monopoly of power in Olympia.
As Ronald Reagan used to say, "Trust but verify." A government of divided partisans is our best hope for an honest, open, government that functions on our behalf, rather than one that functions with a wink and a nod between partisan buddies."
My answer:
"Funny. After 6 years of the total destruction of republican rule, and when it looks like the Democrats are going to steamroll over the failed republican party, now you want a balance of power and oversight. I bet you even want the new president to give up the ability to spy on political opponents without any oversight. I bet you will ask that the new president not use the Dept of Justice as political tool. Probably don't want President Obama to use signing statements to circumvent the legislative branch of government.
Well, actually I agree with you. You see I am a liberal and we believe in the Constitution, balance of power, rule of law, habeus corpus, no preemptive war, and no torture. Just wish you were on board from 2000 to 2006."
