Cons announce retirement of "L word"

Citing pressure from the party base, Republican leaders called a press conference this morning to announce that the word "liberal" will no longer be used to describe anyone to the left of Mitch McConnell.

"We've gotten a lot of mileage out of the ol' L word, and it will be tough to let it go" stated Republican party darling Michelle Bachman. "But the party faithful have made it clear that stronger language is called for in these times. We'll be relying on "Socialist", "Marxist", "Communist", "Terrorist", "traitor", and "America hater" for all future references.

When advised by this reporter that these terms are highly divisive and inaccurate, ms Bachman became visibly energized, her eyes widening alarmingly.

"If they seem 'divisive', maybe that's because Joe the Citizen doesn't want to pal around with Karl the Marxists who would seek to dismantle our shining but gated city on the hill in order to purchase drugs for gay fetuses. Or fetii. Whatever."

"Democrat Party", "Welfare queen" and "Moozlim" will remain in usage by conservative spokespersons and inbred Red Staters for the time being, Bachman added later.
