Is Anyone Else Listening To Thom Hartman? He is going through a litany
of stores closing. Chains either going out of business or closing many stores.

The Gap
Sharper Image
Lane Bryant
Fashion Bug
Bombay Stores
Home Depot
and so on and so forth.... many more.

Malls are going to become ghost towns.

7. Comp USA is closing All Stores. Here we have a Circuit City that
lost a great deal of business to a Best Buy that opened a couple of years ago. I would suspect that they will be on the closing list.

We have already lost a Linen and Things, Bombay and a huge discount furniture chain store.

10. For the past year, my local post office has had a freeze on hiring to replace
employees who have left. They are severely short handed.

15. There's been several freezes on hiring as I remember. I retired in 2001
and I noticed how e-mail and the internet has cut down on first class mail.

I think you will see less house delivery and more centralized boxes.

4. Banks consolidating and closing branches, too
Lots of vacant commercial real estate, driving its value down further.

5. HEY! with all the foreclosures, we
can use that empty hulk to hold families without homes! Now, they will need the government's permission to enter and exit, but it will be warm and dry!

8. The high end shopping mall in my area has had one of the anchor stores vacant for over a year,
and more & more smaller spaces are going vacant too.

And at the new Walmart Supercenter there are lots of high priced cars in the lot, something we didn't often see before.

Corporate America got greedy & killed the goose that laid the golden egg -- the middle class.

11. It looks like this is the list he was reading off of. Unfrigging believable. Thank you! BTW...
Retailers should be out there on the front lines supporting Obama. Trickle up could have prevented a great deal of this from happening.

13. In all honestly, while I regret that many will lose jobs, the loss of chain stores and malls
doesn't bother me a bit. I'd love nothing more than to see a great boom in family-owned, small businesses that are all unique from one another.
