when you allow your campaign to be run by the likes of Steve Schmidt and Rick Davis. Those pricks haven't got any decency at all and their past associations with massive dirtbags like Karl Rove and Tom DeLay have led them to believe that the only way to win a campaign is to destroy your opponent.

I think it worked with shrubbo because people didn't have much of an opinion of him prior to his 2000 appointment by the Supreme Court. McLame on the other hand has a long history in the Senate and people genuinely thought he was a likable guy, I thought he was until this year myself. When you come out as pathetically as McLame has in this campaign hugging the same assholes that told South Carolina you fathered an illegitimate black baby people will react the way they did. McCain, the used to be Maverick straight talk guy everyone loved was exposed as just another POS greedy pol that will say and do anything to win an election.

I hope he never recovers from this, I'd like to see him sink into obscurity as an example to others.
