How to REALLY avoid being locked out of DU
If you are concerned about being locked out of DU on election day, here is what you can do:

Put down your laptop
Put on your shoes
Go walk for your favorite candidate

If you are jacking around on DU on election day, you are not helping.

Oh, wait, were we talking about the future of democracy and not your own ass? Sorry....

4. Unless you're John McCain
then you can jack off as much as you like as per usual.

I'm not John McCain and I approve this message.

8. You could've been making calls instead of posting this.
You are calling out fellow DUers. You are not helping either.

10. agreed. what nonsense.
Edited on Thu Oct-30-08 09:18 AM by habitual
a blanket condemnation of anyone worried about being locked out of DU on election day because they are not out walking for their candidate -- jeez.

Edit to add: The people who 'jack around' here on DU HAVE helped and are capable of helping by being right here on DU.. do you not realize how helpful this site is and how crap it would be if on election day, no one was here as you suggest? Your post is wrong in so many ways.

2nd Quick Edit to add: I agree with your basic purpose, but not the way you presented it, that's all.

11. Today's not Election Day.
Your comment reminds me of those Obama supporters I've called for GOTV who say, "I don't knowwwww... I might have other plans that dayyyy..."

12. The peak time will be after the the polls have closed
for people on the east coast, at least - and even those on the west coast won't have much time left to do anything for the result. There's nothing unproductive about being on DU then.

15. Well, I'm spending 5:30AM to 10PM working that day...
at the poll. Maybe even longer. When I get home, the last thing I give a shit about is ANY opinion-- left, right, or middle-- about what happened that day.

I do care who won, of course, but I am blessed with the innate patience to wait until I wake up the next day to find out.

20. I'm having a difficult pregnancy and I have a little kid to take care of
I'll stand in line to vote if it kills me, but my day of "helping" will be done at that point.

But thanks for your thoughts.
