That "thud" you heard is my jaw hitting the DAMN floor
"Former Hillary (Now McCain) Supporters Say New Obama Ad Featuring Palin Winking Is Sexist"

From the article:

"Shelly Mandell, president of Los Angeles chapter of the National Organization for Women: "I am outraged by the new ad put out by Barack Obama. It is sexist and demeaning to women. These tactics started with Hillary Clinton and continue, growing even more disgusting with Gov. Palin. I was a Hillstar for Hillary and an avid supporter. Trashing two women clearly in a sexist manner in one election is an outrage and must be identified and stopped."

From ABC Blogs

I don't think these "ladies" will be happy until there are no longer any female candidates for any office. If female candidates are somehow beyond scrutiny, unable to be criticized and must be incessantly praised whether or not they actually deserve it, then why would anyone support them???

No one held a gun to that lunatic's head and made her wink and grin like a fool while running like hell from every question during a damn Vice Presidential debate. And the idea that because Sarah Palin has ovaries, no one is allowed to call her the cretinous moron that she is makes my blood literally boil. I have found her to actually be a DISGRACE to my gender, and I refuse to be intimidated by these whining women and their lingering anger and resentfulness. Obama's ad is far less sexist than they could ever hope to be.

8. NOW needs to be tented and fumigated. This is trivializing bs
and it makes a mockery of their own effin mission.

9. The thing is, NOW as an org has endorsed Obama
http://www.now.org/press/09-08/09-16.html

This is just one piddling, bitter, ugly woman from California. (By ugly I mean her attitude, I have no idea how she actually looks and don't care to know.)

I don't even understand how she has been able to keep her job as President of a NOW chapter considering how loud and obnoxious she has become in support of McCain. But perhaps NOW has no policy on the individual politics of its staff.

14. Shelly Mandell is an outlier.
She is not speaking for NOW, but only for herself.

I thought that I recognized the name.

3. Is Shelly Mandell similarly "outraged" at McCain's air-quotes around "women's health"?!
Does she feel the slightest sense of outrage that Sarah Palin is running with John McCain?

This woman owes the rest of us an apology for being a jerk. I have no patience.

5. They are so very selective in their indignation
Obama has an ad that shows .05 seconds of Sarah Palin winking like she has thoroughly lost her mind during the OFFICIAL Vice Presidential debate and that is sexist.

McCain air quotes and rolls his eyes when discussing the health of the mother in an abortion scenario as if she is worth less than nothing; has acknowledged voting against laws to equalize pay for women; doesn't like the idea of ANY family planning including birth control and no one says a DAMNED WORD. And don't even get me STARTED on that imbecile Palin.

Like you, I too have completely lost patience. I have had ENOUGH of this foolishness to last a lifetime.

11. Yeeeaaahhh, women like this are the reason I stopped identifying as a feminist
and began calling myself a humanist. No sense of humor, a total lack of perspective, a disturbing tendency to view men as bad and women as their victims, and a bewildering insistence that carob is just as good as chocolate, I mean come ON, that doesn't even make any sense.

15. Not only that
99% of their members believe that reproductive rights is all there is to being a feminist these days. Like those of us over 60 give a rat's ass about reproducing. I used to be a member of NOW back when it meant something and choices really did mean choosing for one's self, even if it meant not having an abortion

No surprise. But I agree with you completely. Obama's ad is on target. The hell with both of them - Mandell and Palin.

18. A fake ploy that real idiots have fallen for
fake GOP ploy for the media.

I present to you, Exhibit A aka the only folks on the whole damn Internet who think that "Democrats for McCain" is real -- http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2119310/posts

Favorite quote from that thread: “Wow! I can’t believe that party “loyalty” has so overwhelmed us that we are now aligning ourselves with Hilary and NOW. I don’t know what to say.”

((blink, blink)) :wtf:
