My students LOVE me>>>. find out how much.>>>>>>>>
we won a grant with the NFL network and the Chiefs organization, they are spending a LOT of money to build us an awesome stadium and doing a mini workout camp for all of our middle school students.

Within that package, they have donated 16 tickets to a game complete with a stadium tour and being on the field during the game.

We have an incentive program and students who have gotten enough points can enter their name in a raffle to "spend" their points to win the tickets to the game.

I have had 4 students tell me that they have entered the "lottery" to win the tickets to give to me.

made me cry...

and picks up the bigger pieces of trash...

I never asked him to, he just does.

every night I give him a bag of doritos when he is done and I say thank you :)

5. I told your story to my educator husband with Kansas roots and it

made him cry too!

He said to tell you "Go Chiefs! but not too much since a bad season and a high draft pick is their last-best hope at this point." ;)

6. yea, its been a bad season. I don't ever remember losing like this
ever

I am grateful for the kindness and thoughtfulness of the students but I really wouldn't feel right if they did win and give them to me.

13. No. You SHOULD take them if they win. Sometimes it IS harder to receive than to give, but
the generosity and lovely spirit those kids have demonstrated should be encouraged. I know you are proud of them. The fact that you get something out of it is icing on the cake-- and remember how much they will LOVE having done this for you. This could be the first in a lifetime of giving back for them-- enjoy it!

I so appreciate the gesture...I just don't want anyone to think I am taking advantage of the kids

Pro football looks COMPLETELY different from the sidelines. You think those players look big on television -- wait 'til you're standing near one of 'em. When linemen hit each other, it sounds like pickup trucks colliding. The ground shakes, too -- at least a grass field does.
Keep your head on a swivel, stuff happens real fast and you can get run over if you're not paying close attention. Have a great time with your great kids and take lots of pictures -- I guarantee you'll all always remember it .
My best anecdote happened during the Lions' 1998 training camp and involved me, lineman Luther Elliss and a porta-pottie, but I'll save it for another time. Again, congratulations.
John
ON EDIT: Here's something a bit more pertinent -- pro football players are surprisingly nice people as a group. They aren't at all the dimbulb knuckle-draggers one might stereotype football players to be. I was taken by how smart, how aware and how friendly most of them are. My two camps with the Lions were very rewarding and you and the kids will have a blast.
