The production values of that piece were beyond first-rate. Everything about it, including the end of his tie showing when he first leaned on that desk, were so carefully and brilliantly calculated.

The human interest stories were ......... oh, rats, the whole thing was perfect.

87. I have NEVER thought otherwise. Government is NOT a spectator sport.
It's a Do-It-Yourself-Project that's neverending. I have absolutely no patience for those who want to "Let George Do It." I regard that as slothful, greedy, and corrupt. The very notion of once-every-four-years involvement appalls me. Summer soldiers and sunshine patriots. The corruption of benefiting from the blood, sweat, and tears shed by others ... and having no "skin in the game" ... disgusts me.

95. I cannot swear to anything.
But when he came here four years ago, and we met with him personally, he did not lie to us. If he disagreed with us, he said so. When we had too much hope for what he could do in Washington D.C. as a freshman Senator, he told us this and that not to expect too much from him. He would be limited because of his low position and it would take us all to get done what we wanted to done. He never made unreasonable promises and he never agreed with something he did not believe was doable.

He was careful in what he said, but finally (after much encouragement from us)he began coming out more against bush and company. The bus in the ditch stuff may have started down here, or someplace else on the campaign trail that year, but it started then because when he first said it we all went crazy.

Anyway, if I did not trust him I would not be here saying the positive things I do because I am scared as hell of what will happen to this country if things do not change.

I have not detected a single false note ... nothing devious or fake. Sure ... I see the stuff about campaign funding and some of the more awkward comments (bitter, cling, Ayers, etc.) and I'm not at all bothered by any of that. (I don't mount molehills.) If anything, all of that seems to add to the sense of authenticity I feel. While I'd personally advocate a position further left (HR 676, prosecute Cheney/Bush/etc, drop Iraq like a hot potato, etc.), I'm not naive about what's possible. So, I still see authentic and responsible stances. I like that. I'll take honesty and character above more-left every day if I can only have one. He's as 'real' as anyone I've ever seen ... and I was up-close to JFK.

I just don't want disappointment (in him or in Us). Betrayal. I don't think I (or We) could really take that.

(... and I'm in love with his family. Those kids. Hug magnets. Adorable. They have my heart.)

99. I am with you on the betrayal thing. It would kill me as much as I believe in him.
and I am jealous of you and your closeness to JFK. I was fifteen when he was elected and seventeen/eighteen when he was killed. I will never forget the day when he was shot in Dallas. Such a terrible day...

I am by no means that close to Obama. There was a moment in time that I got to be close to him for a brief period. He probably would not even remember me, but the impression he made on me, and others here, has been a lasting one. His honesty was what struck us must, and his connection to us made us loyal to him as we have probably never been loyal to anyone before. I mean I fought for Clinton all through his presidency, but that was more due to the republican's attacks than just my connection to him. He is something else, and I hope for our sake that he is what I think he is. And I pray that powers that be will keep him and his family safe. :grouphug:

62. Very smartly done. Makes the VOTER the focus, and shows his empathy.

71. Indeed. Make it about the voter, about the people. As our respresentative,
he will represent us and work for us. Very good.

64. I am terribly moved that he is a candidate to be President of the USA.
Can you imagine the lives and the sweat of those who have gone before who would be so proud that a man who is half African American has gotten this far? I still haven't drank the kool aid, don't get me wrong, but when you see a man who grew up poor get to this level, you really believe that it can happen to anyone.

73. It really makes me start to believe that as a people we are finally evolving.
Just the thought of this, which I have been feeling for weeks now, brings me to tears.

72. Wow.
I voted earlier that I thought this would hurt Obama, but I definitely don't think that now.

That was amazing.

I was literally drawn to it. I couldn't stop watching it, and didn't want to stop watching it. It was very well done. It looked almost like a documentary.

It was great. Big kudos to Obama and his campaign for that.

80. The most telling sign from Tweety was that for the first few minutes of his comments
he was in a state of complete calm and peace. He was speaking without his rapid, somewhat stilted dialogue, and he was calm, slow, measured, and the look on his face before he even spoke, more than anything, said it all. It said, this is our next president, and I couldn't be more proud.

94. Yeah if nothing else, if President Obama can calm the tweakers
... like Matthews and the other 'screaming heads' with his cool & confident demeanor, the world will be a much better place. :)

96. Tweety basically said 'Vote for Obama.'
I cracked up when he went as far as he did. He will probably attack Obama tomorrow to make up for it. :7

79. This will definitely, DEFINITELY, help Senator Obama.
I love the fact that people got to relate their stories accompanied with narration by Senator Obama. The juxtaposition with his own life story serves to show that he, not only understands, but that he has been there. That's massively effective and will be a huge success!

My friends, I believe that this man IS the next president.

100. Exxon makes too much money
It is not good for a single entity to have control of that much money.
