What is everyone doing next tuesday?
After you vote of course. :)

I have got two small children, so I won't be going to any parties or anything, but wifey and I have a little "party" planned.
First, I am going to buy a bottle of champagne AND a bottle of bourbon, because I'm either going to need to celebrate or get drunk. (hopefully celebrate)
We are going to have Chicago style pizza, blue corn chips and salsa, and wifey is going to make some star shaped sugar cookies and frost them blue. If we have any M&M's left over after halloween, I'm going to separate out the blue ones and have a dish of them handy. We'll be watching the returns on the TV, and playing some sort of electoral college bingo type game.

This is my humble little plan for election night.
After you VOTE, what are your plans?

11. coordinating 200 poll monitors all over my county.
If you live in LA COunty sign up right now to monitor, even for an hour will help.
send an email to workthevote@gmail.com saying I want to monitor, and phone training info will be sent to you. (half an hour, then half a hour for questions)
after the training, we assign you precincts wherever you want to be, badges, election law info, voters' rights, etc.

MONITOR YOUR ELECTIONS!

our website also has generic incident report forms right on the homepage for people in other states to use. Please use them! organize a group of poll monitors in your area.
LA County poll workers are also encouraged to join us.
We need to document all election incidents. The county is using a Robis Elections Inc computer database, with no paper back-up and a cancel button on every page to record problems.
The Robis website offers them a perfect election.
meanwhile phone calls are coming in from people purged from the roster. parties switched. on and on.

the people need to be out there monitoring everything on election day.

23. I hope your hospital visit goes well!
Already voted. It felt good. Like a cool shower on a sunburn or a good strong Coca-Cola with lots of ice on a hot day. It was just...good.

I wish I could do some GOTV stuff this election, it is so important and I feel like I've let someone or something down by not helping out more than wearing shirts, bumper stickers and having a yard sign. Oh and talking to everyone I can about it too. But I am overwhelmed this fall with school, teaching and a full time gig - plus I've had a sick kid for two weeks. Sigh. (Food intolerance.)

Anyway, I plan to pop some champagne when I get home and slowly get lit while eating blue foods and some sweet potatoe pie. (extra "e" intentional in honor of the GOP)

We might have to get some Chicago Style Pizza too. Great idea.

GOBAMA!

24. I also have already voted. I feel like I am not doing my part in the GOTV effort this time.
I will have to trust that enough people will be out there Tuesday to help with the GOTV effort.

I want HAPPY news while I am cruising on pain meds... :D

19. I have to vote after work...
so I'm expecting (hoping, even) that there will be a line. After that, I'm hearing rumors that my partner and I are hosting a small get-together to watch the returns. I'm a bit skeptical about how that will turn out; we're still in the process of moving. But I guess the thought of having visitors Tuesday will be incentive to get the place in order. We have some champagne, and my partner was thinking of doing baked ziti or something. But I love the blue/Chicago theme you've planned!

I have the 4th and 5th off, so I plan on getting smashed. I'm planning on opening that bottle of champagne I've had lying around for a year, and watching Wolf Blitzer's screen on my 10'x8' projector screen.

30. Pacing. My county is very blue, but may be standing on st corner with "vote" sign.
By the time evening comes, being on the west coast, maybe something will be known. Wed I'll either be celebrating or joining the crowds in the street in nearby city.

32. I have the day off
We'll go vote mid-morning. Should be an extra nice day. I will walk to the middle school with the dog, Mr 'pede will ride his scooter (bad back, can't walk that far). We'll take turns voting and taking care of the dog. He likes when I put an I Voted sticker on his tail.
After we get back home I think I'll put some gumbo fixins in the crock pot for dinner.

33. My husband and I are taking our daughter to vote
It's her first election and I am so proud. I have already voted by absentee but it's a family affair going to our polling place. I took her to the polls with me ever since she was a baby and she's always been taught it was not only her right but her responsibility to vote in every election and to know the issues.

We are having pizza in celebration of the republican's tomb-stoning.
