Discuss: Good/bad weather will help/hurt Obama/McCain
Edited on Wed Oct-29-08 08:19 AM by Patiod
(Note - this question is more applicable for states like Pennsylvania that have no early voting)

I'm not worried about bad weather, because I think Obama voters will stand in line for hours in the rain if need be, where many of the McCain voters I know would just drive right by if they saw a long, long line to vote

What do you think?

2. I always thought the weather angle was over hyped
It was probably a factor back in the horse and buggy days. It is just something else for the media to ramble on about to fill minutes. If a little cool weather and rain would keep someone from voting they probably were just looking for any excuse not to vote.

3. I agree--many McCain voters would probably be secretly glad for the excuse
--deep down they know he's a total a-hole and devoid of any leadership qualities or good ideas. I think bad weather, long lines, or any sort of hassle or distraction will work against mcCrackpot

4. If McCain's decision to cancel his rally in Quakertown, PA yesterday because of a little rain here
on the East Coast then I'd say bad weather is good for Obama.

5. Bad Weather Will Be Bad News For Gramps
The biggest factor Senator Obama has had going for him is the enthusiasm among his supporters to donate money and show up to vote. The Obama campaign has invested in a large ground game that is now it massive GOTV mode. Camp Gramps doesn't have anywhere near the organization and his lukewarm relations with the fundies (even with Sarah Barracuda) will keep many church busses parked. I know many Obama supporters who will brave hurricane force winds to vote, while I see many on the other side who are thinking about other plans on election day. Bad weather in the East and Midwest (especially Ohio & Indiana) could depress Gramps votes and start a wave that starts moving west.

Cheers...

6. Enthusiasm is the key to your question. Motivation. How excited you are about your candidate
will determine how much bad weather/long lines you will tolerate. The Freepers are all voting for the lesser of two evils, that's not very motivating.

I'll stand in a hurricane to vote for Obama in my navy blue state.

7. Rain would wash out the blue-rinse and make the arthur-itis...
worse, Obama wins. Don't start, I'm 58.

Weather or anything inclement would help Obama I think because of the general malaise of many republican voters. I camped this weekend with a few guys I've known for a very long time, there's a general sadness and feeling of gloom among among many republicans and two of the guys indicated that they wouldn't be voting at all. I wore my DU t-shirt all weekend too, probably didn't help much.

8. Weather won't matter to Obama supporters, but will to
McShame supporters. I saw a poll earlier this week on the "enthusiasm" factor, and it showed that something like 70% of Obama supporters were extremely enthusiastic, while only about 30% of McShame supporters felt the same about their candidate. All things considered, that's a win for our Barack!

9. Bad weather will only hurt McCain
I believe Obama voters are far more committed.

10. the economy is such a big motivator
that I think it will override weather as a deterent. I think people would walk through a blizzard with no coat to vote for a better future for themselves.
