So my 10-year-old voted in a mock election at school.

She was one of the first in line, and when she brought up the computer screen, guess what? The only name on the screen was McCain. She had to report that a choice for Obama was missing. (She got it changed and they checked the other computers to make sure they were okay, which they were.)

Wow! They really tried to make the voting experience realistic. :eyes:

7. They did an election at my daughters school as well.

She is a nine year old. They used real voting machines. She was the only child in her class to vote for Obama (God bless her heart). One thing to keep in mind though, we live in Kentucky. Nuff said.

A couple of bright notes about our children? Scholastics election shows Obama as the clear winner and it's only been wrong once since they started doing it. Plus Obama won on the Nickelodeons election as well. Yayyyy for the younger generation!

My daughter had a hand vote in her class,we are from NY but live in Macon Ga. She was one of two votes for Obama,The interesting thing came after,the teacher had the kids take a quiz on their hopes for the world.She then told the class all but one agrees with Obama's plan ! Wow ,Here the kids are so brain washed to follow their leader,most of them said,well they can not vote for Obama because their parent's and some Churches said we will all die!!Help us....

11. I remember in my school in 1968

I went to a rich private Catholic School we voted on Nixon-Humphrey with a show of hands in September and the teacher told us that we would vote on Election Day agian. In September the vote was 21-8 The eight of us, stong armed and "persuaded enough of the kids that Humphrey won the vote 17-12 on Election Day. I don't campaign that way anymore, but it did give me a thirst for politics. I was crushed with the actual result though.

My 10-year-olds class also had a mock election.

1 for McCain

My son said the one for McCain wouldn't admit it, and said everyone in the class assumed he/she was embarrassed. Alhough this is probably true, especially at that age, I told my son that a vote can be a very private thing for some people and should always be respected. I do hope that the one child was not too ashamed by the experience. We live in a very liberal town. My guess is that he/she probably voted for whoever his parents will vote for, or else didn't know who to vote for and just guessed.

Not for lack of my daughter trying. She is totally against Palin and she's been talking about the war and about animals as a way to change the minds of her classmates. She's told all of them about wolf shooting, polar bears and that the Humane Society endorsed Obama. She's tried to sway them about the war, but she's the only one in class who has had close relatives serve in Iraq.

I actually was surprised how informed she was about each candidate. I've talked to her about some issues and my beliefs and concerns, but she knew a ton of stuff we hadn't discussed, so she's paying attention. :)
