Yet another sign that we're winning..... Freepers quoting Revelation

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2117251/posts

They're all hilarious, but this is the most creative:

To: Simi Valley Tom
He goes by many names. Man of Sin, Worthless Shepherd, etc. True, Revelation does not call the First Beast as “Antichrist” directly but most people know what one is talking about.

The False Prophet of Revelation 13 directs those on Earth to worship the First Beast, and he exercises all the authority of the First Beast. And has the inhabitants of the Earth erect an image unto the First Beast. (that’s all Rev 13 of course, found there, I mean).

1. Ok and that's suppossed to mean what?
... that all of the great men who helped to found and run this country who have staues of themselves here are...THE BEAST!

 They will use anything to scare themselves, mostly into submission but they can work themselves into a fear frenzy too. When will that side of the aisle pull their heads out of the sand?

2. Their Worst Nightmares...One Week Away...
Think of how their world has turned inside out in the past couple years. In 2006, the GOOP was on the threshold of expanding their majorities in both houses and drive the Democrats into total disarray...and now they're seeing this happen to their own corrupt party. The smell of desperation in the morning is so delicious.

4. These freepers should be careful what they pray for:
To: markomalley
He couldn't even positively effect change on one small neighborhood in Chicago, let alone the world. All we can do at this point is vote, encourage others to vote, enlighten our friends on the many ways Zero is a danger, and pray.
Personally, I have been praying daily for God to have mercy on our country for all the good people who live here and that the candidates who are honest, good people who wish to help our country recover economically, reform our corruption and cut wasteful spending - that those candidates be elected.

They might just get what they pray for: President Elect Obama!!!

11. Yes, I've always thought Bush
was the prime candidate to be the AC.

A so-called "Man of God" who inspired total devotion in his followers and who had a hypnotic sway over the masses after 9/11 (90% approval rating)...

but who then proceeded to destroy America from the inside, bankrupt the global economy and seems desperate to trigger WWWIII.

If he isn't the Anti-Christ then I don't believe there is one.

And the "statues" we erected were the World Trade Center, and the Stock Exchange. "Love of money is the root of all evil". I didn't say it.

9. They don't read, that has to be a talking point someone gave them.
If they did read (or think), they'd know that the Religious Right is very probably the Whore of Babylon (notice "Babylon"!, meaning "chaos" in Hebrew, and known as Iraq today - two levels of meaning there), otherwise known as the Woman riding The Beast. Three guesses what The Beast she's riding could be?

The "Abomination that causes Desolation"? "Standing in the Holy Place"? Hmmm... who could it be? Who. Could. It. Be.???

They ARE what they rant about. All predicted 2,000 years ago.

It would be funny if the irony and reality of it wasn't insane and sad and awful and cruel. "Having eyes they see not, and having ears they hear not". It's all there in black and white, published in every corner of the world for all to see and know about them, when it comes time to become obvious to all including them.

"Depart from me, I never knew you"... "wailing and gnashing of teeth".

Nah, couldn't be. :) Could it?

20. The main problem with using the bible to find messages is that
it contradicts even istelf. The Jews-afterall, it started out as their bible, christians stole and then changed it - include many people whose lifetime is made up of simply studying the bible, and they have a huge amount of written references and explanations of various biblical passages. It is not something Joe Sixpack can just pick up, read and instantly undrstand. These people(Rightreverend fundies) have little real knowledge, no understanding and no depth of character. And a lot of crazy.

22. I won't argue with you
Edited on Tue Oct-28-08 09:14 AM by Waiting For Everyman
but Christians didn't steal the Old Testament. Christ quoted from it at lot. He was very simply the Messiah foretold in the Old Testament which SOME Jews of that day rejected. Some did not, some Jews during his lifetime saw Him as indeed being the foretold Messiah. They were the first Christians. At that point, Jewish belief split into two camps - the traditional, still waiting for a Messiah in the future, and the so-called Christians believing those prophecies were fulfilled. There's no question about the legitimacy of the Old Testament to Christians.

I've studied ancient Greek, and I can tell you that the King James version is about as accurate as a translation could get, considering that English and Anc. Greek are just about as opposite as two languages could be. The Old Testament (or Torah) was already translated into Greek in Jesus' time (called the Septuagint or "70", referring to, opinions differ, the number of books and/or the number of scholars who conferred in translating it).

www.blueletterbible.org

I do agree with you though, on what you say about "Joe Sixpacks". They don't bother to learn anything about it on their own, but just swallow whole what their leaders tell them about it. That's a very dangerous thing to do, because their leaders twist it any way that's convenient for them.

25. Well, I know that the RC and the Protestant versions of the bible differ, including the books of the
and I am beginning to read modern translations of the Jewish bible - just got a book last week.
Main point here is Jews devote lifetimes to the study of their scriptures, study the wisdom of many others before them - fundies expect to get it all in a flash with no effort.

15. fuck the bible
Christianity encourages crime, turning people into monsters. If they could convince people to believe it, they would make breathing a sin. 'No problem on the sin, dude, go out and commit more crimes... long as you get 'forgiveness' before you die, you're good to go. Oh yeah, the person forgiving you rapes your children, but God forgives him too.'

Sit, stand, speak, roll over... next time i'm in a church (hopefully it never happens again, damn weddings), I will deliberately disobey those dog-training commands, and I won't care how it makes me look. Suck a fuckin' nut Christian bitches. This is one person who refuses to be your slave.

19. Obama is a Christian
and goes to a christian church.

Perhaps the bad you see isn't as absolute as you seem to believe.

I know many Christians. Only a very few are what I would refer to as evil. About the same percentage of bad to good as I would find everywhere else - regardless of faith.

16. Well you know... "anti" in ancient Greek means "in place of" or "opposed to"
or "opposite of". (the language the New Testament was predominately written in)

So anti-Christ=in place of Christ, and/or opposed to Christ. Well what did He teach and stand for? The Bible is all about the poor. All about doing good to others. Nowhere does it ever say to impose our will on others. Everybody has their own conscience and is responsible for it individually... that's stressed over, and over, and over.

So does the Religious Right stand in His place, and opposed to, Christ?

It means a false, opposite Christ - presenting itself as Christ. There ya go.
