Here, In South Florida, People Vote With Their Pocketbooks. An Observation.

I'm a Realtor. I drive in South Florida neighborhoods all over, all day. Coveted Waterfront Properties mostly have McCain-Palin signs on their lawns. More modest Communities have Obama-Biden signs.

I can't speak for the rural communities mid-state, which I'm guessing is more McCain than Obama.

Florida is going to be close Folks. Floridians, check in here with YOUR observations.

Footnote: At least here, the number of high-end properties lag well below the regular ones.

1. The only good thing about the bush redistribution of wealth from the
American middle class and poor to the uber wealthy is that there are very, very few votes among the uber thieves. The bush likes to call them his base, the haves and have mores, but their numbers are few.

They think they can make up for their lack of votes by conning others to vote for their stooges. But I think most Americans have caught on, except for the stupid and bigoted.

2. There are less of them and more of
us. Now that is a good thing!

3. From North Florida
Jacksonville, to be precise....where I live (downtown, inner-city historic neighborhood) is solidly Obama. The population is either poor black or middle-class, educated white (I make a point of saying educated because in Jacksonville, only 13% of the population has a bachlors degree or higher)

The further you get toward the beach (i.e. higher incomes) or inland (i.e. less education, more rural) the more support for McCain you find.

4. The Non-Vote Factor
What if you gave an election and none of your voters showed up? The continued cratering of the Gramps campaign and the insuing infighting could mean some of those people may be staying home next week. The concept of losing is not a big vote getter and if the thought is that McCain is gonna lose, many may just take a pass.

I'm in the north and we've always seen election swing on the pocketbook...social issues are a luxuary of good times and these surely aren't those. We have a mix of incomes in our area and the high end are concerned about taxes, but the rising price of oil and almost anything else combined with collapse of the markets have taken a big hit in this area...people are feeling it and they are angry at the laisse-faire attitudes in Washington and Wall Street that led to this disaster.

Cheers...

5. Here in SW Florida, Naples & Ft. Myers, McCain is underperforming...
There is absolutely no enthusiasm for him over hear. McCain signs are few and far between. Actually, not much Obama stuff either. But in looking at the voter turnout and party ID in early voting, Dems outnumber Republicans by about 25%. For this area, that is huge for us.
