turn out the lights on John McCain, the party's over
John McCain on CNN speaking in Cleveland. In the dark, in more ways than one.

He said 'if'! If!!! "IF I am elected President." One slip like that, and you are doomed! The Great Pumpkin is very sensitive about people expressing doubts.

McCain promising to 'fight for his country'. But to fight what? To fight increased government spending. Apparently spending tax dollars on infrastructure, on veterans, and on programs to help the unfortunate who cannot pay for food or heat and for programs like headstart or pell grants - that kind of 'government waste' is bad for the country. Just think how much better off we all would be if the government had not wasted all that money on interstate highways and instead had used that money for tax cuts for people making over $250,000. That's what John McCain, and other Republicans, are fighting for - to save the tax cuts for the well off, calling that an increase in YOUR taxes.

3. In the dark!!! I guess "Joe the Electrician" had the day off!
The perfect metaphor. Let's hope his next big rally is under water. Maybe Joe the plumber can help.

5. Joe the Electrician. Good one!
Apparently he wasn't licensed and didn't really know what he was doing (although I am not a huge fan of over-licensing).

4. Surely to goodness he'll breathe a sigh of relief when this is all over
and he can go home to take a nap knowing that America is in the safe and capable hands of President Obama.
