Orlando TV "Journalist" Barbara West's Husband is a GOP Media Consultant
As I've mentioned here, I know people who worked with Wade West years ago when he worked in the marketing department of a local radio station. He was known there as a pompous, right wing blowhard and conspiracy theorist, and eventually he was fired for gross incompetence. Figures that he would end up a GOP 'consultant":

Joe Biden got asked some questions from Orlando WFTV reporter Barbara West on Thursday that where completely false.

Biden: "Are you joking? Is this is a joke? Or is that a real question?"

Well it turns out that her husband, Wade West, is a political and media consultant for Republican politicians. The GOP talking points Barbara West used in her interview may have come directly from the McCain Palin communications team via her husband Wade.

From Barbara West's website "I am married to Wade West, an international media consultant to politicians, professionals and organizations."

West's media communication and fundraising skills have made him a popular consultant for Republican political candidates ranging from local elections, to more than 85 members of Congress and members of the President’s cabinet.

Wade West is also a Republican donor. West donated $250 to the NATIONAL REPUBLICAN CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEE. He gave $500 to Will McBride a Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in Florida. As well as $500 to John Mica and $1,000 to Richard Keller both GOP congressional candidates in Florida.

To register a complaint about the interview please call WFTV's parent company, Cox Broadcasting, at 678-645-0000.

3. K & R - WHY are "journalists" with direct ties to political parties allowed...
...on the air? That bitch should have NEVER been hired as any type of "journalist" or reporter or talking head in the media, and doing so should bring STIFF fines to the company who tries it.

"Fair and balanced" - Pfffft!

Just shows how FAR the lame$tream media has sunken from viability, credibility, fairness, usefulness, and most of all public service.

They're nothing but propaganda. RIGHTWING propaganda.

WHO/WHAT do you think they'll "deliver" the election to?

THAT is what worries me right now.

5. Just got this email from another Orlando friend:
"and it continues... Fox News won't get off this story today! Lots of commentary from conservatives (no liberals) and no clips or mention of the interview with McCain!"

Great. Now she's a NeoCon hero. :eyes:

16. I posted this link in GDP today in a thread:
http://blog.reidreport.com/2008/10/righties-try-for-tel...

"And the hubby? If he's this Wade West, he's one of the guys who's been serving up Pentagon propaganda to U.S. TV news outlets under the guise of "actual news" for the last several years. From the desk of: MediaPower, the company for which West serves as director:

As a television news anchor with experience in the "major leagues" at both ABC and NBC in New York, Wade West's interviews with business, professional and political leaders give you a unique insight into what really brings increased results, profits and performance. Your group will benefit because his programs and books focus on what works in the REAL WORLD. He provides you with simple, proven strategies for applying this information to benefit your group and situation.

Experience:

* Television News Reporter and Anchor
* Media Trainer for high level public figures including political office holders, leading professional athletes, prominent physicians and attorneys,
as well as the president of a major television network
* Faculty, AMA Physician-Reporters Program
* Infomercial Producer; Senior Media Briefer for U. S. Department of Defense
* Coach for on-air broadcast television reporters and news anchors"

17. This is SOP for those hacks on FOX
Although, despite their "fair and balanced" motto, still at some level the FOX people acknowledge their political bias.

This is different--West has tried to pass herself off as an unbiased professional. She really needs to be taken to task over this. In a way, she can be more dangerous than "B" girl, since the "B" girl never held such a position of influence.

18. Her program manager also needs to be taken to task for this
he supported her line of questioning. He defended it, calling it "hard hitting journalism". It's NOT journalism; it's outright fraud and agenda driven muckraking. If we asked West "When did you stop beating your kids"? "Have you been paying off your facelifts by giving the surgeon blow jobs"? "Your divisive questions make people believe that you support civil war and want to provoke race riots". All of these questions would be considered "hard hitting journalism" by his standards.

Here is the link to the TV station's comments page. Tell them how you feel about selling their journalistic integrity to the Republican Party.
