Why President Bush Is My Hero:
With his unerring instinct for doing exactly the wrong thing at the wrong time, he has done more to destroy the Republican Party than anyone since the one-two-three punch of Harding, Coolidge and Hoover in the 1920's. Indeed, the destruction Bush is leaving in his wake is quite similar to, but far greater than, that of the 20's Republicans, whose major accomplishments were the Teapot Dome scandal, industrial deregulation and gaping class inequalities, and finally the Great Depression.

H,C & H bequeathed us 20 years of Roosevelt & Truman, the interregnum of the quite moderate Eisenhower, and then Kennedy & Johnson. That was an era of considerable progress (e.g. civil rights, a flourishing of science & technology), albeit one marred by our unilateral idiocy in Vietnam. I look forward to the dawning of a new era of peace and progress beginning with the events of Nov. 4. And, costly as he has been to America at all levels, from our treasures to our reputation, I must say that Bush has been the figurehead of a criminal political enterprise that will have disgusted the American people and damaged the Republicans to a degree far beyond the capabilities of any ordinary right-wing thugs and brigands.

1. The results may be great, but the process was painful...
It's been like sitting in the dentist's chair for six hours getting every tooth drilled to the nerve.

2. Yes, Bush destroys everything he touches, except his enemies.
Friends, bystanders, noble purposes, all is destruction and damage. But his enemies, they all seem to be doing well. Those Conservatives who are still sane and with the program ought to consider well the consequences of going for the lowest common denominator in politics.

4. Yeah, I believe in a 2-party system.
Democrats & Greens.

First we gotta drown the Republicans in the bathtub.

6. Yeah - well let's see how this election turns out ...
It is more than close enough for the GOP to steal the presidency - once again.

7. I give him credit for uniting the Democratic party
I live in a red state where our county party used to meet in living rooms. Now we have standing room only meetings and our membership often doubles from month to month.

8. Let me be the first to recommend your fine argument. If Bush
succeeds in destroying the Republican party, it would certainly prove a silver lining to our eight year old national cloud.
