Audio with Palin and James Dobson. Virtual pro-life lovefest. She just aligned herself with him.
She also makes it clear that she is not concerned about the polls "because I’m going to know at the end of the day, putting this in God’s hands, that the right thing for America will be done, the end of the day on November 4th. So I’m not discouraged at all, I’m just fine with the position that we are in today."

Here is a link to the Right Wing Watch site with the audio and partial transcript.

Palin Declares Herself "Hardcore Pro-Lifer" During Dobson Lovefest

I really fear for the rights of women if she gets in national office. I truly do.

Focus on the Family has put James Dobson's phone interview with Sarah Palin up on its website. The mutual admiration between the two was quite palpable as they heaped praise upon one another, with Dobson telling Palin repeatedly that he and many others were praying not only for her but also for a "miracle" regarding the election. Dobson likewise thanked Palin for her "powerful pro-life testimony" regarding the birth of her youngest son Trig, who was born with Down Syndrome, to which Palin admitted while she was scared after first learning of it during her pregnancy, she was a "hardcore pro-lifer" and it provided not only an "opportunity for me to really be walking the walk and not just talking the talk" but also an opportunity to "help us in our cause here allowing America to be a more welcoming nation for all of our children."

Palin then thanked Dobson for all he has done for the movement, declaring that "if it were not for you, so many of us would be missing the boat in terms of hearing the message in understanding what we can do to further the cause of life."

Dobson went on to praise the Republican Party platform as the most pro-life, pro-family party platform in history, which Palin seconded, and when Dobson asked her if she thought John McCain would seek to implement it if elected, she said she did "from the bottom of my heart" and reiterated that it was important for Americans to know "that John McCain is solidly there on those solid planks in our platform that build the right agenda for America."

Do you feel a little queasy yet? She is openly aligning herself with one of the most extreme on the religious right just as she is running for vice president.

She has declared pro-life is her mission, to hell with those who differ.

Dobson asks if she is discouraged.

Palin: I am not discouraged at all, even hearing those poll numbers because, for some reason, I have found myself over and over again in my life being put in these underdog positions and yet still when victory needed to be reached in order to meet this greater good, it’s always worked out just perfectly fine despite the fact that over and over again I’ve been, and I know John McCain has been, in underdog positions. To me, it motivates us, makes us work that much harder and it also strengthens my faith because I’m going to know at the end of the day, putting this in God’s hands, that the right thing for America will be done, the end of the day on November 4th. So I’m not discouraged at all, I’m just fine with the position that we are in today.

Sarah Palin ends with her declaration that this will be a religious country if they are elected. I shivered at her words.

Palin: I don’t even need any kind of red carpet but I would absolutely love to. Dr. Dobson, Todd is sitting right next to me here in this vehicle before we get on an airplane, so Todd and I too, after I speak with you, I’ll share this conversation with him and we’ll be praying too for your ministry and for those pastors whom you have just mentioned also. Collectively, we can do all that we can within us to strengthen our country and to let Americans know that government has to be on their side, it’s their government and as we seek God’s wisdom and His will in this election, we have to have faith that it’s all going to be good at the end of the day there on November 4th as this country moves forward.

She just spoke for the campaign. Did you notice?

In my mind James Dobson is one of the most harmful religious figure she could embrace. I will never forget the story he told about his little dog named Siggie. It is story that shows his inhumanity to small creatures, not a good trait for such a devout man.

This worries me so much that she is now being so open about her intentions. I wonder how John McCain feels, or if he even has a choice anymore in the campaign's direction.

35. yep, they hope McCain will die
my girlfriend's family is very right wing and when she visited them in Arizona one month ago,the talk going around the dinner table was that if McCain is elected President that he will die soon and that Palin will be President. I'm so tired of these sick people and their narrow minded agenda.
My hope is that the GOP is dealt such a crushing blow that they will be permanently split into warring factions.

6. Most women out here saw right through her.
She's the bright and relentlessly sunny networking backstabber at work, always looking busy but clueless about how to do any of the actual work, kissing up to superiors and stabbing peers and subordinates. Eventually she backstabs her way to the top and still doesn't have a fucking clue how to do the job so she tries pushing it all off on all the people she fucked over. Most of the time there's a totally smitten boss in there someplace so she keeps getting away with it.

Oh, yeah, we've all had the extreme displeasure of working with the bright, energetic, nasty, vindictive and utterly incompetent Palins out there.

So we saw through her from the get go and nothing has changed our minds one iota. Every ignorant speech that woman makes just confirms it.

And they thought they'd substitute her for the truly bright and competent Hillary Clinton? Fat frigging chance, boys.

I meant to do it earlier today and got sidetracked. So much scandal, so little time.

You know, of course, that Dobson's Liberty Legal Institute was the driving force trying to shut down the legislative Troopergrate investigation. They even filed an amicus brief when the matter went up to the State Supreme Court. See Shannyn Moore's analysis here: http://shannynmoore.wordpress.com/2008/10/01/get-the-f-out-of-my-state/

Mudflats, the Immoral Minority and Celtic Diva also covered this extensively.

11. So when we win this thing, how will she spin the God issue?
"To me, it motivates us, makes us work that much harder and it also strengthens my faith because I’m going to know at the end of the day, putting this in God’s hands, that the right thing for America will be done, the end of the day on November 4th."

Will our win prove God is on our side, not hers? Or will it prove that God's will is less powerful than our side's will? Or will it prove that God just doesn't really care one way or the other? Or will it prove she has a different God than we do? Or will it prove that she's just a raving maniac?

This is worse than the Da Vinci Code. Holey cheeses.

17. In his own words he beat up a dachshund, a tiny one. His words:
No one can beat up a tiny dog and be a good man.

"Please don't misunderstand me. Siggie is a member of our family and we love him dearly. And despite his anarchistic nature, I have finally taught him to obey a few simple commands. However, we had some classic battles before he reluctantly yielded to my authority.

"The greatest confrontation occurred a few years ago when I had been in Miami for a three-day conference. I returned to observe that Siggie had become boss of the house while I was gone. But I didn't realize until later that evening just how strongly he felt about his new position as Captain.

"At eleven o'clock that night, I told Siggie to go get into his bed, which is a permanent enclosure in the family room. For six years I had given him that order at the end of each day, and for six years Siggie had obeyed.

"On this occasion, however, he refused to budge. You see, he was in the bathroom, seated comfortably on the furry lid of the toilet seat. That is his favorite spot in the house, because it allows him to bask in the warmth of a nearby electric heater... What developed next is impossible to describe. That tiny dog and I had the most vicious fight ever staged between man and beast. I fought him up one wall and down the other, with both of us scratching and clawing and growling and swinging the belt. I am embarrassed by the memory of the entire scene. Inch by inch I moved him toward the family room and his bed. As a final desperate maneuver, Siggie backed into the corner for one last snarling stand. I eventually got him to bed, only because I outweighed him 200 to 12!"

Swinging the belt??

18. Sickening.
I clicked on the link and was taken aback by his child-rearing philosophy:

{Dobson even views some crying babies as "little dictators" engaged in a bid to control and enslave their parents, and advises parents not to let the child "win" by picking up the child and soothing it. He warns that:

"It is possible to create a fussy, demanding baby by rushing to pick him up every time he utters a whimper or sigh. Infants are fully capable of learning to manipulate their parents through a process called reinforcement, whereby any behavior that produces a pleasant result will tend to recur. Thus, a healthy baby can keep his mother hopping around his nursery twelve hours a day (or night) by simply forcing air past his sandpaper larynx."}

All I can think of is millions of crying babies left by their fanatic mothers thinking that this is the way to show 'love' and 'discipline' from birth....Babies can manipulate...? God help us.

peace~

At least it appears that way the few times I find myself in a Wal Mart. Babies screaming at the top of their lungs while the parents totally ignore them. I can't stand going in that place, and only go if dragged there by a relative.

20. More about Dobson....who is admired by the VP nominee Palin. Scary stuff.
From the link in the link above:

"Just in case the more slow-witted among his readers fail to grasp the obvious parallel between his relationship with his dog and the type of parenting advice the man as become rich and famous by dispensing, Dobson then lays it explicitly on the line:

"But this is not a book about the discipline of dogs; there is an important moral to my story that is highly relevant to the world of children. Just as surely as a dog will occasionally challenge the authority of his leaders, so will a little child -- only more so." (emphasis Dobson's)

Dobson says that his Focus On the Family organization is engaged in a "new civil war" in which the "forces of Light" (child hitters, homophobes, Operation Rescue, would-be censors, etc.) are pitted against the "forces of Darkness" (antispankers, gays and lesbians, Planned Parenthood, free speech advocates, etc.). This man treats dog ownership as a war, he treats childrearing as a war; indeed he appears to see his entire life as a war.

Dobson even views some crying babies as "little dictators" engaged in a bid to control and enslave their parents, and advises parents not to let the child "win" by picking up the child and soothing it. He warns that:

"It is possible to create a fussy, demanding baby by rushing to pick him up every time he utters a whimper or sigh. Infants are fully capable of learning to manipulate their parents through a process called reinforcement, whereby any behavior that produces a pleasant result will tend to recur. Thus, a healthy baby can keep his mother hopping around his nursery twelve hours a day (or night) by simply forcing air past his sandpaper larynx."

28. Shouldn't be surprising, she's never made a secret of where her politics lie
That's why McCain picked her to begin with, to shore up the base. He couldn't have picked Lieberman or Romney, that would have meant the base stayed home. So he went out and picked the most fundy RW nut job he could find that, and that's why we wound up with this joke of a veep nominee, Palin.

What's going to be real interesting is when the election is over and the 'Pugs have gone down to defeat. I think that there will be a big schism between the RW fundie section of the party, and the moderate pro-business side of the party. Good news for us.
