1. I think you're misintrepreting what he's saying ....

He's eluding to the swearing in of a new President (i.e. oath of office) and what that new President will be facing on day #1 .... He's saying it's all an unknown right now .... that's all.

I really like the way Powell uses the word "convince" so readily . like convince the population that there are WMD's.

5. I don't know. It did seem fairly specific: "there will be a crisis on the 21st

or 22nd that we don't know about" sounds just like what Biden said. could be rhetorical, could be a reference to the challenge any new president faces, could be a reference to a thing Hilary said in debate: "we won't know how bad things are until we get in office and can see what bush has left us with". given all the messes we already know about, there could certainly be things that these powerful people know that we don't, as well as things they suspect. it could also certainly be as specific as powell and biden seemed to say: they know something fairly tangible about an imminent threat. anythings possible now.
