Amy Poehler Gives Birth, No More SNL

Huffington Post | October 25, 2008 08:20 PM

Amy Poehler had a baby boy Saturday says TMZ, and thus she's done with Saturday Night Live:

Sources tell TMZ Amy Poehler has been in labor all day and just had a baby boy.

We're told Seth Myers will do Weekend Update all by his lonesome, and there's no word on whether her "Bronx Beat" skit with returning cast member Maya Rudolph -- who will also be playing Michelle Obama tonight -- has been totally scrapped or not.

Maya Rudolph is reportedly going to play Michelle Obama tonight.

The heavily pregnant Poehler gave what may be her greatest skit performance ever last weekend with her Alaska rap (at link).

She has a show deal with NBC and told Mens Vogue she's not returning to SNL after her maternity leave.

24. That's asking a lot.
I like Kristen Wiig a lot in the current cast, but my love for Amy Poehler goes back to The Upright Citizen's Brigade.

25. She was so big I thought she was faking it!
Edited on Sat Oct-25-08 09:59 PM by W_HAMILTON
I thought she was wearing a "pregnant suit" or something, she did look like she was about to explode!

I haven't been following the situation, but what does this mean? It means she will be taking a leave of absence from the show? Or that she will NEVER come back? I assumed she would take a leave of absence if she was pregnant, but why completely leave the show? Had she already decided to leave, and just set the birth of her baby as an arbitrary deadline to do so?

I really like her, she's one of the main reasons to watch :(

19. Great comment:
Oh come on, you can keep doing SNL! Just drag the baby around with you everywhere like Sarah Palin does. I'm sure a 1-day old would LOVE to have bright, hot lights blasting in his face!

No?

Sigh.

22. I think she's a fairly small woman.
So she looked particularly huge by contrast.
