Notice how nobody cares about gay marriage this time around?
Looks like when the economy is in the tank, bigots all of a sudden forget about such important matters such as two gay people getting married.

I guess when you don't have health insurance, can't find a job, are about to lose your home, have lost over 50% of your retirement, and can't afford to put gas in the tank, the filthy homosexuals and their war on marriage seems less like an issue. Perhaps because it doesn't affect you in any way at all whatsoever. Ditto abortion and flag burning and guns and no prayer in schools.

What happened to their so called moral values? If they're so moral, shouldn't their current economic situation not matter? Shouldn't they vote based on their "family values" which were so important back in 2000 and 2004?

Of course not. Because to a conservative, it's all about me.

1. Big issue in California, Arizona, and Florida right now.
So far I have been able to restrain myself from flipping off the people waving Yes on Amendment 2 signs, but I'm not sure how much longer I can hold out.

4. Here in AZ it's non-stop "Yes for Marriage" crap 24-7
:puke:

The TV add stresses that "Marriage is a man and a woman, passing life to the next generation." (With imagery of cute little boys helping their dads fix cars & cute little girls helping their mommys in the kitchen). I guess that makes childless couples' marriages a fraud as well?

:puke:

2. I'm guessing you don't live in CA or you wouldn't say that
Around here somebody cares or they wouldn't be running all those adds for Prop 8. I think it's the mormons.

supports gay marriage and abortion" in truth, the dems running in our area have all had to take a firm prolife anti gay marriage stance. it's in all the dem's literature, but the repugs just lie about it non-stop. okies really buy into that crap, and can't be bothered to look any further than what their rw churches tell them. the nearest giant Baptist church sent out a flier telling people not to be swayed by economic issues, because money of this earth is less important than saving babies. dems are still working directly for the devil here in the bible belt buckle. pretty bad stuff.

7. You can't put it on the ballot in every state, every cycle
They used up a lot of the ammo cache on this in 04 and are forced to play it more strategically this time. Why do you think they believed they had any chance in California?

11. Economic populism trumps cultural populism every time
The hell with guns and gays; when you're broke, or about to go broke, cultural issues don't matter so much.
