Anyone going to the Grant Park bash? I am still trying to work out the logistics of it all...I was looking forward to watching the returns all nice and snugly in bed, but this is historic, man! So even if it's like 30 degrees, I feel obligated to go downtown. I take public transit so I am also wondering how this will play out...

go at the last minute?

6. Well, I reserved a flight & hotel.

I'm going a couple of days before, so I can take the Metro in to DC, and go around so I can find the perfect place to stand, as close as I can get. Then, I will try to get to that spot extremely early the morning of the inauguration. That is my plan. I've never done this before in all of my 55 years, but I HAVE to be there for this historic event. I have to be part of that.

4. Thanks! I am going to read up on the preparations and everything...

It's a little hard to imagine all these excited people in Grant Park in the dark...the city wanted to hold it at one of the stadiums in the area because it's more contained. Grant Park is sprawling and the logistics are daunting.

I can't move as fast as I used to or stand for as long as I'd have to. And being trampled under the feet of countless happy, excited people is not the way I want to end my days.
