30 years of media Hate Propaganda has brought the country to the brink of another Civil War
Re-regulate and break up corporate owned media monopolies - Arrest Rush, Hannity, Savage... for treason - Make it brutally clear to the RACIST FILTH emboldened by McCain/Palin, America was never meant to be, and never will be, a White Christian Nation.

2. Monopolies work against the 1st Amendment. They don't enhance it.

3. No, I cherish it
The freedom to promote hatred and incite violence, no matter how cleverly disguised, isn't really the intent of the 1st Amendment.

8. So, when we here on DU spew all kinds of hatred, that's OK
But when others do the same, it's not OK? Come on. You don't really mean that, do you? Yes, break up monopolies. And hold the press accountable. But, folks would die to defend your right to say whatever stupid, idiotic, hateful thing you want. That's America.

12. Seems like the MSM doesn't either.
They knowingly reported White House Talking Points in the lead-up to the war. And that's just one example.

7. This won't happen w/o violent action. I am not advocating such, just sayin.
The aristocratic class has already taken over the country. They continue to allow the pretense of freedom when there really is none. They will either steal the election or declare martial law. They will not give up power w/o a huge fight. They have nothing to loose and trillions to gain. They have almost all the wealth and power. How can we replace the complicit Democratic lawmakers? Whose side are they on if it comes down to the aristocratic class vs. the people.
I suggest that we contact our Congress critters and make it clear that WE THE PEOPLE will not stand for another stolen election or martial law. They need to put action in place to either prevent these actions or remedy them.

13. Bad news, Rhett. It's our Congress critters who FAILED to uphold the Constitution and
allowed this to get so far out of control. Their oath of office says they swear to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America. How many of them have actually tried to do that using the remedy the founders provided for them.

That's right. Precious few of them.

They are part of the problem, not the solution. Entrenched power does not want to yield.

17. the democratic party is a political party
Edited on Sun Oct-26-08 11:27 PM by Poseidan
They are part of government.

People have forgotten their primary civic duty, which is to stand United against government abuse. The strategy of (some) political parties is specifically to divide people, using half as a shield against the other half.

9. To all those who say "1st amendment," I say "Julius Streicher."
Does that name ring a bell? If not, look him up. The parallels are striking.

10. You sound just like MICHAEL SAVAGE....We can only defeat fascism if we refrain from its temptations.

(...by the way, I do agree with your title line, and the first phrase of your post, that is:

"30 years of media Hate Propaganda has brought the country to the brink of another Civil War" and "Re-regulate and break up corporate owned media monopolies")

But, seriously, in your next breath, all one needs to do is to substitute the names of Durbin, Pelosi, and Reid, for Hannity , Limbaugh, and Savage, and you sound like a sound clip from The Savage Nation.

...and I don't think that's what most of the folks on this board have been fighting for.

11. To all: "Treason" is not a first amendment right.
The problem is proving "treason".

Public servants take an oath to protect the Constitution from ALL enemies, foreign and domestic. "Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort." Now, if you can prove that the *shista neocons are enemies of the United States (as I believe they in fact are--and that there is ample evidence to support this), then I think there could be an argument re "adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort."

But if you aren't willing to go there, then the best that can be done is to insure that the media are not controlled or directed by one political or economic faction. The airwaves especially should belong to the people, not monopolies.
