The would-have-been-Republican nominee says, “I screwed up,”
Allen on Macaca incident: ‘I should have never called him anything but yellow shirt.’»

2006, then-Sen. George Allen (R-VA) seriously damaged his re-election campaign when he was caught on video disparaging a young Indian-American as “macaca.” “This fellow here, over here with the yellow shirt, macaca, or whatever his name is. He’s with my opponent,” Allen told a crowd of supporters. Asked about the incident while speaking in Florida yesterday, Allen said that he “screwed up” and “should have never called him anything but yellow shirt“:

“I screwed up,” Allen said. “It wasn’t an intentional thing, if I had any idea that they’d make such an issue out of a non-existing word … I should have never called him anything but yellow shirt.”

Allen continues to claim that macaca was “a non-existing word,” but the fact is that macaca was a pejorative epithet that existed before Allen used it.

2. It's scary to think that Allen stood a good chance of being the GOP nominee this year

I can see him beating McCain in the primaries, if his career - oops! - wasn't over by then. I love self-immolating republicans, which is almost redundant anymore.

Also note that Allen doesn't mention any sensitivity toward actual racial issues. He just wishes he'd kept his mouth shut.

3. That guy needs to have his ass,...kicked.
I know that sounds aweful but, this man operates on a 'rule of the jungle' level and SHOULD HAVE HIS ASS SOLIDLY KICKED,...at least, twice, to prove his NEED for some serious sense of humility.

Sick man, period!

I mean, heck, everyone knows it's knee-grow! That other word is just made up! Non-existent!

5. Typical repuke.....it's everybody else's fault for making an issue out of it,
instead of his fault for saying it. These asshole's never take personal responsibility for anything.
