I have nothing to do with the campaign, although I donated to it 2 days ago. The Yes on 8 campaign (a ballot measure which would change California's constitution to make same-sex marriage illegal) has been pouring huge amounts of money into TV commercials lately. I don't know where all the money for that is coming from but there are quite a few rich right-wing donors and a lot of people associated with churches. The commercials are trying to scare voters into voting Yes, with inaccurate statements such as "public schools will be forced to teach that boys can marry boys, and parents will have no right to object" (which doesn't happen now even though gay marriage is currently legal) and "churches will lose their tax-exempt status if they don't allow same-sex marriages" (also untrue). It's a giant scare campaign to trick people to vote Yes on 8, and therefore make same-sex marriage illegal in California's constitution. This is an epic battle and there is big money being spent to push it through. If you have money to donate and you support the rights of same-sex couples to marry, please consider donating to the No on 8 campaign at:

Thanks
