Got this today and thought I'd share.
Take An Ancestor to Vote
As many of you have heard, my mother (who we called Leah) died in January 2007. I used to say I don't do regret… yet the one regret I have is that she did not live to see the Movement toward this historical Obama presidency. So on Thursday, October 16, 2008 as I prepared to head for my early voting station, I decided to take her with me.
I put on a ring I have of hers, and a pair of sunglasses she used to wear. I chuckled to myself as "we" went to vote. I signed us in and waited for our name to be called.
The touch screen machine is a 17-page document… and it was on page 6 that my second proudest moment of the year came. It was there that I thought to "back-page" to page 1 and 'revote.' On the touch screen, to change your vote,
you retouch your choice to get a fresh screen. I did so… stopped to take off my eyeglasses… put on Leah's sunglasses… and let her vote for Barack Obama.
It was my proudest moment of the year. I felt great. Please experience it. Please take a picture, jewelry, piece of clothing, obituary, a lock of hair, the spirit of an ancestor to vote….
I've only got 1200 eddresses to send this to. Please forward this to yours, using the "blind copy" option… so that no one has to page-down through lists of names. Each person will receive it as if they were the only one receiving it, as you have. You will need to put one address in your "To" line. Use yours.
