8. Just 'winning' isn't enough. They must be CRUSHED for their incipient fascism.
A landslide isn't enough ... it must be a Mount St. Helens ... complete devastation! Absolutely EVERY vote counts ... and even a 60%-40% winning margin AIN'T ENOUGH!

Destroy them. Wipe them off the ballot. Make 'em CRY! Make every asshole with a McCain lawn sign hide in SHAME. These people MUST be made to feel like complete FOOLS.

6. People are going around with the "why can't Udall close the deal" BS they give Obama
However, if you'd said in 2002 that after the 2008 election the CO Dems would control both Senate seats, what is shaping up as a 5-2 House majority, as well as the Governorship, both houses of the Leg. and every statewide office save one (which will go to Dem. control after the current office holder, Sec. of State. Mike Coffman becomes the new CO-6 Congressman), people would have thought you were crazy. Words can't describe how bad the Republicans' implosion has been.

Of course, people would rightly expect a bigger blowout considering how poorly run Schaeffer's campaign has been. They literally have not done one thing right. On the other hand, there have been millions of dollars spent by 527s trying to convince us that Udall is, in fact, the spawn of satan (only a slight exaggeration), with only a minimal response from Udall. Still, he's going to coast to victory now. Once the NRSC bails I'm sure the 527s will do likewise to save their sorry asses in KY and MS.

Then, THE TAKEOVER WILL BE COMPLETE!!! MUA HA HA HA!!!

Seriously, it'll be 100% Democratic control of both the state and federal portions of our government. Think about that. Six years ago it was the exact opposite (save the attorney general's office). Colorado Republicans: Epic Fail.

11. You brought up something I haven't thought about......
If Coffman wins, does Ritter appoint a successor SOS until the next election? I hope so, sure would like to see a democratic SOS.

On another topic, I'm still deciding about all the ballot issues. I've been focusing so much on the senate and presidential races that I know we have a long ballot, but I haven't read the blue book yet. I printed out a sample ballot the other day and I'll be deciding whether to vote early or by mail within the next week. The good news is that the election office is not far from where I live so if I decide to vote by mail, I should be able to go down there and get one in person.

10. It will be interesting to see the turnout for early voting tomorrow...
That 4 page long ballot will take forever to fill out. I'm glad I got a Mail-In Ballot, spent a couple of hours at home researching all of the amendments and hand delivered it to the ballot drop box at the Arvada City Hall. I have a feeling that there will be some long lines at the EV polling sites and on election day.

As for Udall they've really been bombarding him with "Boulder Liberal" (ooooo scary!) ads from 527s. His nonresponse to those ads and the positive numbers show that people are hurting and not falling for the right wing bs anymore. I think that Shaffer's new ads are hilarious. All of a sudden he's a candidate for "change". Congress has screwed everything up. He's going to go in there and cut the pork, balance the budget, find all the oil we need, bring the boys home and reform Congress. It's laughable from someone who's always been a Bush wannabe.

Oh and if you really want to read something sick check out Mike Rosen's op-ed piece calling Shaffer "a Principled Conservative".
