the dems need to get busy on changing the PROCESS for registering people and then do it in CONGRESS..
If Feds are called in to investigate when charges of irregularities are pressed, then the feds need to be involved in setting up a process that is more resistant to irregularities...and should be done PRO-actively...and not every election cycle.....at the eleventh hour..
A VOTER ID card should be sent to EVERY "known" citizen over 18, and starting with 2010, a card issued for every 18 year old citizen..on or near their 18th birthday..
Don't tell me the government "does not know" which of us are citizens..
Each card could surely have a unique voter ID number, and would be valid in EVERY state..
A simple "federal-only" ballot, available for every election cycle could be provided for those of us who JUST want to vote for president/senate/house.
To vote for house, and for the others, all that would be needed was a piece of mail, identifying that person & their correct address..
For the people whose citizenship is in doubt, this easy process for the rest of us, would free up the beleaguered registrars offices, to deal with them on a one to one basis.
I run a few large bowling leagues, and there's a bowlers' database I can go on-line for...any time a new bowler shows up.. I can look up a bowler's ID number from ANY state..any bowler association..and can look at their record from 10 years ago, if I choose to.. If the lowly Bowler's association can identify a bowler from Kentucky or the Virgin Islands, to a lowly bowling secretary in California, why on earth is identifying voters such a mysterious and difficult procedure??
BECAUSE REPUBLICANS HAVE BEEN IN CHARGE FOR TOO LONG AND THEY DO NOT WANT PEOPLE TO VOTE..
If dems had been in charge all these years, the voting "issues" would be about COUNTING VOTES (where it SHOULD BE) instead of how low-income people were paid to "sign people up"..
With every 18 yr old citizen automatically "signed up", there would be no need to do that.. Would cities/counties/states be hiring people to sign up new voters so they could vote for street commissioner/state representative / animal control supervisor?? I think not..
