My co-worker is from Honduras. She just told me that in her Hispanic newspaper she reads online every day, there is a headline on the front page that says

"Joe the Plumber Wins the Debate but is ILLEGAL"

Then the story went on to report that Joe is not really a plumber, has no license, etc.

Hey -- do you remember someone posted in GD:P a coupla weeks ago that they talked to someone who claimed to be from Wasilla, and claimed to be here as part of a group? They were asked what they were doing and the reply was, getting ready for Palin's inaugural? I don't know if it turned out to be true or not, but I wonder if this guy is part of that group or a group like that.

It warms my heart to finally observe the sobriquet of "illegal" getting applied to more than just one particular cross-section of humanity. :)

Joe didn't pay his taxes? Then Joe is an Illegal-- an approbation that works quite well in my view, and one that should be used quite often (as I do) to describe speeders, jay-walkers, litterers, pot-smokers or anything other activity that may give the slightest of offenses to the cockles of the law. :P

And he only makes $40,000 a year so he would get about a $500 tax break under Obama's plan but not under McCain's. I told off a lady in a waiting room of a large automotive repair shop this morning who was spewing McCain talking points about taxes under Obama. I set her and everyone else straight, and added that who do they expect to pay for the 10 trillion deficit under Bush and his Iraq war and Wall Street bailout if it wasn't big business and the wealthiest with highest income and profits? When I got out I saw her huge black $50,000 SUV with huge McCain stickers. She was dressed to the hilt and obviously well-heeled and most unwilling to spread any of her wealth around!
