My cousin appears on local tv because of his Dem campaign signs...
Watch the video, my cousin is hilarious. He has a friendly contest putting up signs supporting Dem candidates vs his Republican neighbors. :)

Some of his quotes:

"Obama, baby!"

"The democrats have always been pretty solid in my estimation," Wetzel said. lol

3. oh yeah, MT is pretty cold most of the year
It gets hot in the summer, but I've even seen snow around the 4th of July before.

Yeah he's a laid back cat, great guy. Smart and talented too.

:)

I'm in AZ and I have my Obama-Biden sticker on my window, I live right off a busy street too, right above the bus stop. I'm surprised I haven't had a crazed McCain supporter throw a rock through my window, lol.

I was just about to check out your recent post. The subtle one about your displeasure with the media. I think you should just say how you feel and not hold anything back, lol.

The picture in the article doesn't show one but I didn't know if they only showed some of the signs.

21. That's cool! Your cousin seems like a cool guy. The republican girl across the street...
...seems too down to earth and pleasant to be a Republican. I wonder how long it will be before she switches parties.

For her to say "there's no ill will", "it's all in good fun" and "whoever wins, wins" indicates she's not nearly as nasty as so many other Repubs.

Maybe there's hope for her.

22. Montana can be like that
Lots of people are a little more naturally conservative about things, not so much the fire-breathing, wild-eyed GOP we all know and love. Those types exist, of course, but lots of MTans who vote Republican aren't overly political but they are literally the Regular Joe types the GOP pretends to be.

I can see that.

27. Isn't that the oddest thing?
Edited on Sat Oct-18-08 01:53 AM by Vektor
Somewhere these folks bought into three very bizarre notions:

1.) That a HOBBY warrants the position of #1 issue to vote on. Because owning guns, hunting, target shooting, etc, are hobbies..."interests"...NOT politics. Owning a gun is no more a genuine "political issue" than my owning a sewing machine. Nor, does the opposing political party give a shit if I own a sewing machine. Which brings me to my next point.

2.) Attention rabid right-wingers: Democrats do not give a shit about your guns. It is arrogant and delusional to believe we care one iota about your hobby.

3.) Gun ownership is not, contrary to Republican delusion, a partisan issue. MANY people who vote Democratic have guns in the home. Many people who vote Republican do not.

The propaganda that is circulated by the Republican party and groups like the NRA perpetuating the rumor that Democrats are going to "take your guns away and leave you defenseless against 'bad guys' and 'terrorists'" is a ludicrous scare tactic which is an insult to the intelligence of those it targets.

Which is why Democrats (and some more moderate and less brainwashed Republicans) refuse to buy into it. I feel sorry for the ones that DO buy into it, and wonder why on earth, after all these years of them STILL HAVING THEIR GUNS REGARDLESS OF WHO IS PRESIDENT do they still fall for this crap.

32. I know people who truly live the espoused GOP principles
Good people who would literally give you their shirt off their back. They go to church, work hard, and are good family people. They believe in living right and charitable giving etc. The national GOP treat Jesus the same way they do the troops, like props, but people out there really do believe in good works and charitable giving and back it up. Kurt Vonnegut was a humanist, he didn't believe in God, but he thought Jesus was somebody we all should listen to, he loved the Beatitudes which is Jesus' Sermon on the Mount. The national GOP wouldn't know the Beatitudes if it whacked them upside the head. Some of my best friends have fundie parents who have always been great to me and good to others, and don't necessarily buy into all the political ideology.

Brian Schweitzer and Jon Tester are interesting because they've tapped into these non-ideological conservative leaning people by utilizing language in a certain way and espousing populism and land conservation. And you know what? Obama has a shot there. He could win that state.
