For laughs: 3/23/06, FR's JimRob: "John McCain, you treasonous bastard..."
Watching Letterman last night, I started thinking seriously that McCain's hand movements looked Parkinsonian. Googled and the first hit was from FR by a Huckabee supporter last December. (If you're curious, http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1945818/posts) On that thread a non-fan listed dozens of anti-McCain threads from FR, including the following one from JimRob:

"Re: Your attempt to shut down political free speech on the Internet

"John McCain, you treasonous bastard, I challenge you or any of your traitorous cohorts to find even one thread, one post, one paragraph, one sentence or even one lousy word posted to this web site that is not fully protected by the First Amendment!

snip

"Your McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform legislation is a treasonous act. You and your cohorts are attempting to subvert the Constitution of the United States of America, the very same constitution that you swore an oath to defend, so help you God! That makes you a domestic enemy of that great document and a traitor to your country. Yes, and Benedict Arnold was a war hero before he turned traitor too.

"How dare you even think that you are qualified to sit in the oval office! Ronald Reagan's office! President? Hah! You miserable excuse for a two-bit political hack, you're not even qualified to shine Ronald Reagan's boots. If you do run, I'm afraid you're gonna be at least one vote short. It'll be a cold day in hell before a traitor like you ever receives my vote. And that's a campaign promise you can take to the bank."

... and he goes on a bit, paraphrasing Peggy Noonan-- I mean Ronald Reagan.

I only looked over the first fifty replies; mostly megadittoes of course.

Now I didn't learn anything about McCain and Parkinson's disease, but it was the rare fun trip into the belly of the beast, so I thought I'd share.

1. "Ronald Reagan's office!"???? Last time I looked, the Oval Office belonged to the American people.
That is exactly what is wrong with the wingnuts. They think it belongs to them and the people who agree with them. They can't stand the thought that the American people get to say who should sit in that office.

2. I dunno; I'd be just as likely to say that W is sullying FDR's office
I'm willing to give the nitwit that degree of poetic license; I just thought it was wildly funny that as recently as 2 1/2 years ago, the founder/owner/chief nuthatch of Free Republic was blasting John McCain as a jackbooted thug. Try to imagine Skinner blasting Obama (or Hillary, or Biden, or Dean, or pretty much anybody). Just wouldn't happen.

Attn McCain Apologists: Talk all you want!

But he's still a constitution trampling RINO and unless he repeals McCain-Feingold, repudiates amnesty and global warming, drops all support for embryonic stem cell research and stops talking about partnering up with the Democrats and instead swears to fight the evil bastards he won't be getting my support.

You kicked the conservatives to the curb and nominated your RINO, now all you gotta do is get him elected.

However, that shouldn't be all that tough to do. Look what he'll be running against. A corrupt, power hungry Marxist radical feminist control freak or a corrupt, America-hating racist Marxist surrender monkey (oops, can I say "surrender monkey" in this context?). Can't see America going for either of those two useful idiots.

By the way, "change" is a Marxist codeword.

As they say, America deserves better.

Carry on.

5. Gee, doesn't that PS make him a McCain apologist?
Palin a fiscal conservative! BWAhahahahahahaha!

Good catch! Thanks, I just assumed Jim had fallen in line considering where he gets his money. Glad to see he's still raving (or at least continued into this year).
