David was positively brilliant with McShame re Palin.
He asked a lot of questions to McShame about her, and never criticized her directly. All he needed was for McShame to brag and say how wonderful and capable he thought she was. The thing that McShame doesn't get when he does it, it makes him look like a total asshole. Everyone but the backwash knows that she is a disaster.

5. Like me, I am sure that he is scared to death of his son's future if she became President.

2. So what, the repukes are going to steal this election and even if they don't, they will
challenge the hell out of the election results. Does any one really think the GOP will stand by a democratic win on Nov 4th? :silly: If so, I have some ocean front property in Arizona to sell ya!

6. Yeah, that hope stuff is really a threat, isn't it?
Much easier to build the wall so high, you never have to worry about climbing over it.

12. This time it will be different
Obama will win. There can be no other outcome. TPTB don't want panic in the streets -- they can't arrest everyone. They KNOW they need us to pay for their buddies' bailout. Everyone wants Obama. It'll be Obama.

8. It is true what you just said
They are absolutely not going to allow him to win. I just spoke with my mother and asked that instead of money or a gift for my birthday on Nov. 2nd, I wanted them each to cast a vote for Biden as they are racist and cannot do Obama. I told my husband that I cannot live in this Country if McCain wins. I refuse to live here any longer and don't know what I will do.

15. And I know one of the things the GOP does is send in people to post negativity
It's a big weapon they use against us -- hopelessness, negativity, etc. This is my country -- my only one. My people have been here for three centuries. They aren't getting it away from me. We will succeed in restoring our constitutional democracy.

4. I am not sure Letterman likes McCain anymore either
I flipped between Leno ridiculing Biden and making fun of Obama on a skit and BS from McCain and I think Letterman did not get any straight answers from McCain and indeed saw McCain just lying and lying. I think Dave may have had enough. I know I had enough. I hope he takes out his checkbook tonight and writes a big fat check to Obama because Obama cares at least about Dave's son.

7. I got the feeling that Dave is none to pleased with McCain. He sat there and listened while
McCain totally made an ass about himself concerning Palin. Dave is smart enough to know that McCain was either lying or totally insane.
People don't like being lied to when their future is at stake.

18. Dave seems very very thoughtful
about the state of the world and planet. He is the type of person to not have a child because he cares so much and worries. But he had a son, Harry. And now that he does, he is pressing with more urgency for answers. I don't think at this point he suffers fools well especially how McCain was acting.

19. Dave Knows His Audience
I've watched Dave since he debuted in the mornings in 1980...and think I have a pretty good read on him. He's definitely a progressive Democrat as a product of both the "counter culture" of the 60's and 70's and the big corporate games he's had to fight his professional career. His support of his writers during last year's strike said a lot about him as well...and he's always been generous in helping friends and new talent...overall a very humble, self-effacing but compassionate man.

Dave knew he had Gramps in the hot seat...he owed Dave and Dave wasn't going to let up easy. He could and did take advantage of the situation with some very solid questions...but he also knows that he's immune from a lot of the internal heat had this interview been done by the "news division". His automony is his virtue. CBS doesn't control or own his show, he does...and lately he's used it to push some of his causes. Not long ago he had Thomas Friedman on about his current book...not quite your standard late-night chit-chat.

The real tell on this show is the two sides of Gramps. During the day, he's a "fighter"...out to win at all costs and doesn't care who he hurts or what he says in the process. At night, he's "one of the guys"...who can pal around with anyone and be the light of the party. I think he relishes his celebrity far more than his politics...and one of his biggest let downs during this election is that his celebrity isn't enough. His trip to Dave and other shows was to "revive" his ego.

This interview is not to be underestimated. Several million saw it as it happened and millions more have seen it on the "tubes". Dave, singlehandedly, made Gordon Liddy a campaign issue...something that caught Gramps flat-footed and surely has to have his campaign going for more antacid.

Kudos to Dave for a classic interview and for being the voice of sanity and insanity for so many years.

Cheers...
