NBC Nightly News damning report on Todd Palin.
Looks and sounds like Todd Palin may really be in charge in Alaska.

Btw, this took me a few attempts to view:

3. Interesting -- but I disagree with the comparison to Lady Bird Johnson and
Dan Quayle's wife. That was their role in their capacity of VP's spouse. Todd Palin isn't employed by the State of Alaska, although he traveled on their money to, as that one woman said, lobby for special interests. Hanging out in meetings. Acting on the Governor's behalf regarding the firing of Wooten. On whose authority? It's just wrong. And it makes you wonder how much influence he has over the Governor's policies.

4. Well, considering they're dominionists, it's not surprising.
They consider women second class citizens. Caribou Barbie is obviously a front man for Toad.

6. I agree with you. Also, I'd already heard some of this info here on DU, but not the lobbying part.
But the reason I posted this is because my husband had never heard any of it. So when he watched the report tonight he thought it was pretty damning. Which makes me wonder what the rest of the country (who aren't plugged into DU and other sites) would think of the report.

7. Lady Bird Johnson was an activist in Civil Rights and conservation of natural resources
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lady_Bird_Johnson

Claudia Alta "Lady Bird" Taylor Johnson (December 22, 1912–July 11, 2007) was First Lady of the United States from 1963 to 1969, having been the wife of U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson. Throughout her life, she was an advocate for beautification of the nation's cities and highways and conservation of natural resources, and made that her major initiative as First Lady. After leaving the White House in 1969 and her husband's death in 1973, Lady Bird became an entrepreneur, creating the $150 million LBJ Holdings Company, and was a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Congressional Gold Medal, the highest civilian honors.

As First Lady, Johnson started a capital beautification project (Society for a More Beautiful National Capital) to improve physical conditions in Washington, D.C., both for residents and tourists by planting millions of flowers. Her beliefs regarding the importance of national beautification can best be summarized in her statement that "where flowers bloom, so does hope." She worked extensively with American Association of Nurserymen (ANN) executive Vice President Robert F. Lederer to protect wildflowers and promote the planting of them along highways. Her efforts inspired similar programs throughout the country. She was also instrumental in promoting the Highway Beautification Act, which was nicknamed "Lady Bird's Bill" and sought to beautify the nation's highway system by limiting billboards and by planting roadside areas. She was an advocate of the Head Start program.

Johnson created the modern structure of the First Lady's office; she was the first to have a press secretary and chief of staff of her own and an outside liaison with Congress. Her press secretary from 1963 to 1969 was Liz Carpenter, a fellow University of Texas alumna. Carpenter was the first professional newswoman to be press secretary to a First Lady, and she also served as Lady Bird's staff director. Johnson's tenure as First Lady marked the beginning of the hiring of employees in the East Wing to work specifically for the First Lady's projects.

Mrs. Johnson in front to the South Lawn of the White HouseDuring the 1964 election, Johnson traveled through eight Southern states in her own train to promote the Civil Rights Act, at one point giving 45 speeches over five days. It was the first solo whistlestop tour of a First Lady.

In 1970, Johnson published A White House Diary, her intimate, behind-the-scenes account of her husband's presidency spanning November 22, 1963 to January 20, 1969. Beginning with Kennedy's assassination, Mrs. Johnson recorded the momentous events of her times, including the Great Society's War on Poverty, the national civil rights and social protest movements, her own activism on behalf of the environment, and the Vietnam War. Johnson was acquainted with a long span of fellow First Ladies, from Eleanor Roosevelt to Laura Bush, and was protected by the United States Secret Service for 44 years, longer than anyone else in history.

She was quite a lady.

8. She was quite a lady -- and I remember her involvement and inspiration.
But Todd seems like a 'shadow' governor, or someone lurking behind the scenes -- Lady Bird shone light on what she was doing. That's the difference I meant to convey.

10. No kidding about Lady Bird!
She was lobbying for civil rights, and he's lobbying for a personal family vendetta. BIG difference.

12. Never is there a mention of AIP- One of the most damaging stories ever and
it gets no press. The press is owned by the repugs, they just give us bone to
chew every now and again to keep us from blowing.
The fact that no one talks about it, proves to me, the repugs know it would be
extremely damaging for them- so they keep it down.
