I would have reached through the phone and slapped some sense into her
I had a conversation with a friend of mine today. I had previously sent her the pic of McCain with his tongue all out and the subject line read "Here's a good pic of McCain". Apparently she didn't like it because she emailed me back and said leave McCain alone. I wrote her back and said I'm not doing anything, it's just a picture and then I left it at that. She called me and we started talking about the election. I gathered that she was a McCain supporter which I didn't know who she supported because she doesn't vote. But she tells me that she will vote for McCain because he's a good guy and feels she can trust him. I asked her why she doesn't think she can trust Obama, she said she doesn't like him because he's going to raise taxes blah blah blah. The usual republican talking points. All I said, well you have the right to vote for whomever you wish as long as you do your homework. I told her I'm voting Obama and she accused me of voting for him because he's black.

I said not really because I always vote for Democrats for the presidency. She said it's a shame that a lot of black people are voting for Obama because he's black, I said no, you can't say that because most blacks always vote for Democrats anyway so that doesn't wash. And she actually agreed with me (she's Asian). She also said she didn't like what Obama said about abortions and I told her that Obama is pro-choice (I figured she would be okay with that since she had one a few years ago). But she said she liked what McCain said about abortions. I didn't want to tell her that Obama would tell her it is her choice to have that abortion and McCain would force her to go through the pregnancy even though she didn't want to. That is why I say she is misinformed and confused. Then she went on and said something about Obama contributing to terrorist groups. I said WTF? Where in the hell did you hear that? She couldn't tell me where she heard it but she believes it to be true. I told her she was misinformed and she needs to stop watching Faux News and listening to her republican friends at work. She pissed me off after that remark. She is my good friend and it really upsets me that she could believe some crap like that.

I told her I hope she doesn't vote because she is voting for the wrong guy and then we started chatting about other things.

1. Ignorance isn't a virtue.
But, it appears that in this topic, it's strong with your friend.
