Phony voter registration cards don't translate into overvotes. This is a tempest in a teapot but it's been blasted 24/7 recently in the media.

Overvotes and dropped votes, conversely, not only can directly affect the outcome of an election... they already have... yet the media is strangely silent about DREs and the danger they pose to democracy in their current, unauditable state.

We have to pick up the slack for the M$M... again... and get the word out ourselves. I know the vast majority reading this here already know... but please pass it on!

Stephen Spoonamore and Chris Hood should be more familiar to American voters than Joe the Plumber!

Diebold Coverup, Says SAIC Report And Stephen Spoonamore

(snip)

Two years ago, The Brad Blog broke the Pentagon Papers of E-Voting stories <3> about the SAIC report on the vast problems with Diebold vote machines. In short, Diebold had issued a 40 page redacted version of the SAIC report which whitewashed the problems. Computer cyber security expert Stephen Spoonamore got a copy of the 197-page unredacted report <4> which listed hundreds of serious problems, and he released that report to us.

Well, Spoonamore did more than that – he took the report to the Maryland Board of Elections and confronted them with it at a public meeting. He told them that if he were handed such a report in the private sector, he would “shut down the system and open a fraud investigation.” The elections officials expressed shock that they had not ever seen the same unredacted report. And when the meeting was over, Spoonamore, with a concealed microphone, personally confronted the officials. And what did one of them say to him – that him having the report was “a security risk.” Following the confrontation, Spoonamore was contacted by law enforcement officials who demanded to know how he got the report. We can say now that the report came from a high official in the Executive Branch who wanted to expose Diebold.

We have this all in an exclusive video now posted on YouTube <5> (left). This exclusive report <6> was prepared for a major news program but was killed prior to the mid-term elections. Why was it killed, and why did we have to wait another two years before Diebold was forced to admit that its voting machines are unreliable?

There must be transparency in the election process and this report underscores why these machines should be investigated from top to bottom by independent investigators before even being considered for use in an election. The lesson is clear – we cannot trust the vote machine companies and we need paper ballots for all votes cast.

AFFIDAVITS FROM SPOONAMORE, PHILLIPS
Thursday, September 18, 2008

Here Stephen Spoonamore, under oath, describes the system that Bush/Cheney used to
steal the election in Ohio. He also talks about Mike Connell, who was Karl Rove's IT
guru, and whom the lawyers in Ohio, Cliff Arnebeck and Bob Fitrakis, are moving to
depose.

The lawyers want also to depose Karl Rove, Ken Blackwell, Brett Rapp (whose family
--all raging Christianists--own Triad Government Services, which makes the central
tabulators used in the Ohio election), and a range of other GOP officials in the state.
Ohio SoS Jennifer Brunner is opposing their intention to depose these people, arguing
that it should wait till after the election. Sec. Brunner has lately done, or tried to do, a lot
of good on the election front, against fierce opposition by the GOP; but here she's blocking
progress, probably because she fears how hard the other side would land on her if she
okayed the depositions now. (Much of the Ohio press is owned by the Republicans.)
Recently she filed a memorandum to, essentially, prevent the case from moving forward.
Attached here is the lawyers' reply.

Finally, here also is an affidavit from Richard Hayes Phillips, whose Witness to a Crime,
which lays out the astounding evidence of vast election fraud throughout Ohio, I have
done my best to publicize. Here Richard makes an overwhelming case for moving
forward on the basis on Spoonamore's testimony.

Again, in order to get up to speed on all of this, go to http://www.rovecybergate.com .

Stephen Spoonamore 2008 Interview - “Paper ballots please..”
Mark Crispin Miller

Here, in this shattering new interview, Stephen Spoonamore goes into harrowing detail about the Bush regime’s election fraud, past, present and–if we don’t spread the word right now–to come. Since he’s the only whistle-blower out there who knows the perps themselves, and how they operate, we have to send this new piece far and wide.

Here Spoon tells us that McBush’s team–i.e., Karl Rove and his henchpersons– have their plan in place to steal this next election: by 51.2% of the popular vote, and three electoral votes.

He also talks about the major role played by the Christianist far right in the electronic rigging of the vote.

(snip)

Since Spoonamore is a Republican and erstwhile McCain supporter, as well as a noted specialist in nosing out computer fraud, his testimony is essential–not only for its expertise, but, no less, for the impact that his views will surely have on those Republicans who have been loath to see what Bush & Co. has done to our election system.

The Republican voter fraud hoax
Donald Duck and the Dallas Cowboys won't steal the election for Obama. Acorn's only crime is registering Democratic voters

Definitely worth passing around to everyone who mentions ACORN to you!

2. Judge Rules to Uphold on Electronic Voting, Appeal Expected
Judge Rules to Uphold on Electronic Voting, Appeal Expected
By Alice Gordon, Staff Writer, The Atlanta Progressive News (October 10, 2008)

This article contains additional reporting by Matthew Cardinale, News Editor

(APN) ATLANTA – On September 8, 2008, Judge Michael Johnson heard the case filed in 2006 by Voters Organized for Trusted Election Results in Georgia (VoterGA) challenging the State of Georgia on the use of electronic voting machines in Superior Court of Fulton County. VoterGA lost the case.

VoterGA in their lawsuit had requested "a statewide external audit trail capability for any voting machines used" as well as "a public audit of at least one randomly selected race at the precinct on election night," as previously reported by Atlanta Progressive News.

(snip)

After hearing one hour of oral presentation by the State’s attorney and a 20 minute presentation by VoterGA’s attorney, Judge Johnson declared after a few minutes of deliberation that the machines were Constitutional and that the case challenging their use had no merit.

(snip)

Atlanta Progressive News also reported in September 2006 on two Diebold whistleblowers, Chris Hood and Rob Behler, who stated they were instructed by Diebold to install a mysterious, unapproved patch in 2002 on the machines, without any knowledge or involvement by the State.

3. Reason to avoid voting straight-party in November?
AVOID THE STRAIGHT PARTY OPTION WHEN VOTING IN NOVEMBER!

Effects of the Straight Party Voting Option and Sequoia Voting Machines Observed During the 2004 General Election in Santa Fe County, New Mexico

(snip)

"Straight-Party" Voting

The evidence about how the "straight-party" option worked on election day came from the compiled lists of voter complaint calls received by the many election protection services sponsored by groups such as the NAACP, PFAW, MoveOn, etc. Find these complaints compiled on the Election Incidents Reporting Service (EIRS) (http://voteprotect.org). The reports shed light on the problems that occurred when voters chose the "straight-party" option in New Mexico and sixteen other states with the straight party option.

EIRS records indicate that the "straight-party" option appeared not to have included a vote for president for every party except for Republicans. When a Republican voter selected the straight party option, a Bush vote appeared to register automatically, that is, the machine showed "Bush" (with rare exceptions). "Straight-party" voters from other than the Republican Party may not have discovered the absence of their presidential vote on their review screens. And others who reported finding no presidential vote on their review screens may not have realized how their choice of the "straight-party" option contributed to the absence of a presidential vote. The "straight-party" option appeared to have created a large under-vote by means of the no-vote-for-president (except Bush) phenomenon.

4. E-voting report: Several states still vulnerable
(snip)

The report details which states have not taken precautions against fraud or technical errors associated with e-voting machines and other voting systems:

-- Ten states -- Colorado, Delaware, Kentucky, Louisiana, New Jersey, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia -- received failing grades in three of four voting security areas.

-- Of the 24 states using direct recording electronic (DRE) machines, only three -- California, Indiana and Ohio -- get satisfactory grades in all four categories, the report said. Colorado, Delaware, Louisiana, Nevada, Texas, Utah, Virginia and West Virginia have no state-mandated requirement for emergency paper ballots to be available in precincts that use voting machines, in the case of voting machine failure.

-- Nine states -- Alabama, Illinois, Kentucky, Maine, New Jersey, South Carolina, Texas, Utah and Virginia -- have requirements for ballot accounting that "fall far short" of the groups' recommended best practices.

-- Eighteen states, including Florida, New York, Texas and Virginia, do not have adequate requirements in place for paper-record backups to e-voting or other nonpaper voting methods. Voter verified paper records allow states to conduct recounts of voting machine totals, supporters say.

-- Another 27 states, including New York, Michigan, Virginia and Georgia, do not have adequate provisions in place for conducting post-election audits of voting results, the report said.
